Has anyone noticed or had the thought lately that Crean's demeanor on the bench has changed lately?  During the Georgetown game, the camera locked in on him and he was just sitting there looking miserable.  We were still in the game at that point so it struck me as unusual.  Then he had the meltdown against ND and I've followed him closely ever since he started at MU and can't recall him ever losing it like that.
Does anyone have any insight on what is going on with him?  Or is just a matter of the pressure of the season wearing on him.

Holy mother bleeping crap. What hell is going here. My bleeping God people - back away from the ledge, stay away from sharp objects and get your self to a hospital. These posts the last few days are just asinine.

Edit: During the GU game he had the flu. Would make anyone miserable. And yes, that was the most mad he has ever been against ND while at MU.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Haven't noticed much difference. He's probably always been miserable. ;D

I think he's been miserable ever since that Marquette student got kicked off Beauty and the Geek.

I know it's been wearing me down.

Its just an observation I've had that his demeanor on the bench seems to have changed lately.  I've supported Crean and continue to do so.  I think MU Dish is right, the G-Town game was the day after the Beauty and the Geek news came out.

Every coach I know that is serious about the game is "miserable" (definition varies to a great extent) to some extent.  They live for practices, live for teaching, live for making their team better.  Games are very stressful.

MU NY

The guy is solid...he's a great coach and is intensely focused.  I can only imagine what could be said if some on this board had a camera on them while they worked!!!   I know I wouldn't be looking all happy and peppy. :D

Can we merge this thread with the Crean has to go thread and rename it I have theories that show I have too much time on my hands and killed too many brain cells at Murph's????

For Tom Crean, this is real life.  He's paid a good salary to put a team on the floor, go out and recruit guys for next year, appeal to the students, appeal to the alumni, the media, and the administration.  Most of all, he's under pressure to win. In this fishbowl environment, there's a lot of pressure to perform.  Most coming from within himself, but everywhere he goes he meets someone with an opinion about how he's doing his job.  And the same can be said of our sophomores, for whom this is real life as well.  There must be a lot of pressure on DJ, for example, with those great expectations, all that potential.  That's pressure on a young guy, to have to live up to limitless potential, to realize it.  And I would say that the bar has been raised as high as it's ever been at Marquette.  For many years all we had was the reflected glory of days gone by, but today, we're back on the map.  We're getting inflated poll numbers because of the respect of our coach and our program.  We're getting more than our share of the media spotlight.  How can anyone deny that the sole reason for this is because of our coach?  Yes, the university went to the well and decided to invest in basketball, but without our coach we wouldn't be enjoying the success we do.  I applaud our coach, and I'm glad he's on my team.  I don't want anyone else.
I realize that the purpose of a message board like this--by the way, spectacular job putting this thing together!--is to analyze the details and discuss every angle.  That's what it's for.  But I think we should remember that this isn't real life for us.  This is purely entertainment.  When I look at where we are as a program, compared to where we were, I'm happy to be a Marquette alum and I enjoy following my team.  We're tracking north!!  The future is bright!!  Let's have a little perspective!!

Totally agree with MOWarrior.

Everyone gets frustrated from time to time, myself included. I've criticized
Crean before, he's not a perfect coach , nobody is. But look at the terrific job he has done. Do you think MU would have had "College Game Day" with Mike Deane as the coach?

Crean is a first class guy, and represents MU great.

As for the Notre Dame game, I was glad Crean got pissed. It's about time. In my opinion, he needs to get some T's. A technical foul can sometimes be used to get a point across to the refs and your team. I don't think MU was to blame for any of the crap that happened in the ND game. They were just retaliating, in a very heated rivalry game, to what the ND players were doing.

Since when should people be upset when you stick up for teammates.
Q: What's the difference between Bo Ryan and God?
A: God doesn't think he's Bo Ryan!!

Exactly, and here was Crean's quote on Rosiak's blog:
QuoteCarter, who made the move after turning the ball over, smirked as he walked away. Crean, meanwhile, had to be restrained by assistant Jason Rabedeaux from going after the nearest official, who had already headed back downcourt when the sequence occurred.

"It was uncalled for," Crean said. "Nobody saw it. But I saw it and I'll be out of coaching before I don't defend a player. It shouldn't have happened but it did, and frankly I think the complexion of the game changed at that point, I really do. All of a sudden we had a lot of fouls.

"But that's part of it."
