DJO was announced today that he has made the Chris Paul Elite Guard camp this weekend! He is selected as one of college's top 15 Guards along with some other notable players. Big Props to DJO and hope he gets a lot out of this experience!

Adam Zagoria tweeted this same story this afternoon. Should be a good chance to work against some of the best perimeter talent in the country.

Kyle Singler is a guard? He's listed as a Forward on ESPN at 6'8'', 230 lbs.

Perhaps he is a "point forward".
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Great job for him.  He deserves it.

I really liked how DJO's defense improved as the year went on.  He made a lot less stupid fouls.  (I think he fouled Scottie Reynolds at the end of the game on a jump shot if I am not mistaken which was costly).  If he can add lock-down perimeter defender to his resume, he will be an all-Big East player.  I am really excited to watch him play next year.

This a great opportunity for DJO. Hes obviously very talented, but his guard skills (ball handling, passing) are areas were he needs some improvement, especially if he wants to make it at the next level. Learning from CP3 will only help.

How do these kinds of camps and invitations work? Specifically, who pays for DJO's travel and participation in the camp? Can/does MU pay for one of its players to attend? Does DJO have to pay on his own? Do shoe companies pay? I assume these camps are for-profit, that Chris Paul and other make money, so who pays?

I'm bumping this question up again, as I'm sure someone must have the answer, and I've been wondering all day about it. Please shed some light!

My guess, and really just a guess, is that it's paid for by Chris Paul's sponsors.  In particular Jordan Brand.  It's an invite, so I'd guess they foot the bill for a chance at greater brand exposure down the road.

Great opportunity.

Great opportunity.

That's kind of what I first thought, but then I figured that as an NCAA athlete that wouldn't be allowed. So, I figure it's got to either MU or he's paying on his own.

I also figure that this is different from Lazar's stint at the University Games last summer as that was part of US Basketball. But, I'm not sure. Truly curious how it works.

And, yes, it is a great opportunity for DJO.

Didnt sound like a great performance by DJO....

"Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom was an excellent outside shooter during the season, but he didn't look the same this weekend. He missed a large percentage of his outside shots."

This is great to hear!  Hopefully he takes full advantage of this opportunity.

Hopefully his shot gets back on line too per the last post before this...
