P.J. Lockridge to URI
« on: June 02, 2010, 05:26:08 AM »
Wisconsin product and cousin to Caron Butler, P.J. Lockridge has committed to playing at Rhody.  His final two choices came down to URI and Baylor.  Lockridge also visited L'ville and UTEP before signing with RI.  A 6'5" swingman who likes to run and with an 89 rating, did we consider this guy?  With his WI ties and pedigree he would have seemed to be a natural for us.

We did consider him.  But given the position he plays or is capable of playing, there really isn't room for him.  He'd be behind at least 4 maybe 5 guys...any scholarship can be put to better use.

Thanks bma.  Any other recruiting news on the horizon?

An 89 may have seemed to be a natural for our old coach but not for our new one.  i beleive he may have signed one or two kids below a 90 during his tenure and those kids are at the end of the bench.  Let's let the 89's go to the URI's and Indiana's of the collge basketball world

Gardner made a very nice jump from 70 to 88 during the spring signing period.

Newbill stayed where he was at at 80.  I believe that Newbill is underrated based on his lack of AAU participation.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
