Does Buzz have a relationship with the AAU coach of Mean Streets? This team has two kids in the Class of 2011, Anthony Davis (6'10") and Jamari Traylor (6'8"). Both are unranked in Scout but it's way too early to jump to any conclusions. A friend of mine saw Anthony Davis play and a UConn assistant was there. And UConn doesnt bring in tall stiffs....

He might not be going to UConn even if he wanted to....

In todays WSJ regarding Calhoun's contract....

"The delay in the negotiations and the uncertainty about the coach's health has already convinced one of the nation's top recruits to rule out playing at UConn. In another setback for the coach, a person familiar with the matter said a representative from the NCAA, which has been investigating Mr. Calhoun's program for possible recruiting violations, has informed the school that investigators have found violations and will be issuing a report in the near future."

Class of 2011 Chicago Perspectives star Anthony Davis of Mean Streets now has a scholarship offer on the table from Syracuse University. Davis rates as one of the top 2011 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Davis, a highly skilled and versatile 6'10" power forward, has seen his recruiting stock and profile explode during the month of April with Mean Streets. Davis has a wingspan that extends beyond 7'1", and has the ability to dominate on both ends of the floor. Davis is only scratching the surface in terms of how good he could ultimately become.

Once he adds weight and muscle to his frame, the sky is the limit for Davis as a prospect, and his emergence further bolsters an already loaded Illinois Class of 2011 that features the likes of Wayne Blackshear (Chicago Morgan Park), Sam Thompson (Chicago Whitney Young), Chasson Randle (Rock Island) and Mycheal Henry (Chicago Orr) to name a few.

Look for Syracuse, with assistant coach Rob Murphy leading the way, to become much more active in their recruitment of the talent-rich state of Illinois.

Davis, and Mean Streets will be in action this coming weekend at the Spiece Run N' Slam in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mean Streets is the team that Jerel and Mo played for, so there is a connection there, though not a big one.  Since Buzz tookover, the only Illinois guy we signed is Reggie Smith who plays for the Mac Irvin Fire, and the guys we've been mentioned with haven't been Mean Streets guys, they've been Chicago Elite, Illinois Warriors, Illinois Heat, and Illinois Wolves and a couple smaller programs.

Having said that, it has more to do with where the talent is playing in that age group than it is lack of a connection with Mean Streets.

And it looks like Purnell and Depaul are not going to have a connection anytime soon.
