Seeing how Purnell is leaving Clemson, I went to their Rivals board to get a sense of which of their recruits may be available.  Doesn't look Ratliffe is even considering us but he might be a nice guy to call...

http://clemson.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1071438

2010

Ricardo Ratliffe, 6-8, 240, Power Forward
Nation's Top Junior College Prospect
Ocala (FL) Central Florida Community College

"Wow. That shocks me. Well then Clemson is out. Forget this. They are out. I'm down to Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama and Cincinnati."

Josh Langford, 6-6, 210, Small Forward
Three-Star Recruit, former Louisville commit
Huntsville (AL) Lee

"That's a major switch now for Josh and for his cousin who Clemson has offered, Devin Langford (2011 guard). We are going to have to rule them out now, unless they bring in someone that we are partial to. Clemson really wanted Josh and Devin. But now it looks like they are out of the game. That helps us narrow it down. Clemson was one of the schools at the top of the list. I know they like Ole Miss, West Virginia, Marquette and Maryland a lot. That makes things easier now." - Lee head coach Greg Brown

2011

Damien Leonard, 6-5, 180, Shooting Guard

Five-Star Recruit, Nation's No. 4 overall recruit in 2011 and No. 3 shooting guard
Greenville - JL Mann

"We are a little disappointed, but understand because it's a business. But you have to look at the university as a whole, not just the coach. Clemson will put a guy in there equivalent to coach Purnell or maybe even better. We are keeping them right there in the top five and nothing has changed in that regard. We'll look at it more once we get back in five days from Germany." - Leonard's AAU coach Willis Holiday

Bernard Sullivan, 6-8, 220, Power Forward
Charlotte (NC) North Mecklenburg

"We weren't real surprised. We haven't heard much from Clemson since the end of the high school season. We are keeping all of our options open. Bernard got up this morning, heard the news and went back to bed. Life has its rhythms and its challenges and issues. Of course, Clemson was his first choice, but Bernard's a real stoic kid. Everything is different now that coach Purnell has left." - Sullivan's father
"The Lord is a Warrior" - Exodus 15:3

How the hell does Clemson get the number 4 overall recruit in the country?  We can't even crack the top 20.

MuMark

They didn't get the #4 recruit....they are being considered by him....big difference.

They are in his top 5.

We are currently in the top 5 for a player every bit as good.....Dawson.

ps. It also helps if the kid is from your state. Leonard is from South Carolina.

HoopsMalone

We may eventually make Tokoto's top 5 as well.  Unless he just commits to UNC without really looking at too many other places.

With Buzz's contacts in the JC coaching ranks, the success he's had with JUCO players from the start of his MU career, and with the opportunity that exists at MU for a BIG, I can only guess that if we're not in Ricardo Ratliffe's top five, its only because Buzz doesn't have an interest.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

GOMU1104

I'm pretty sure Ratliffe is destined for Alabama. Never know though.

CAINMUTINY

Clemson is actually a pretty nice school and while they may not be partial to yankees its not a bad place to end up.

QuoteClemson is actually a pretty nice school ...

The campus is actually really nice; it has its own lake with sail boats etc and it's own very nice golf course.

That said, it is practically a one red light town and is in the middle of nowhere. It's a thirty to forty minute drive to Greenville if you want a city.

Is Clemson public or private?

Public.

Strong in engineering and the sciences, not so much in the humanities. My daughter applied and was accepted to their honors program four years ago with a nice scholly but after visiting said she couldn't handle the small town after growing up in Dallas. She's a senior now and MU Law School is under consideration. Not sure I can get her to a cold weather town though....she's really a "southern girl."

AlienWarrior

His Clemson recruits could just follow him to DePaul

Dawson Rental

That would be a nice jump start for DePaul.  I hope it happens.

Yes, it is like the Purdue of South Carolina...if that makes sense.

And while the basketball program sucks, the campus is indeed very pretty and they love their college football.  It is very much a small town though.

I assume without the "Indiana hair" thing though.  ::)
