houwarrior, the thing that actually concerned alot of people was that he was "just a shooter". If you only watched him the last couple games you say what got everyone excited when he proved he can put it on the floor. Hes a great shooter.
Thanks so much. You, having seen much more of him have a much better feel should he play 1, 2 or 3, or split time among one or more?
I only ask b/c of our gaurd only log jam (again--that may be my limited knowledge and ignorance showing)
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

JMO, but I think Jones plays a big guard/wing spot in what I think will remain a three-guard lineup.
1: Cadougan; Smith; Blue
2/3: Blue; Buycks
2/3: DJO; Jones; Newbill
3/4: Butler; Crowder; Fulce
5: Otule; Mbao (Crowder/Fulce when we go real small)

These lineups are so hard, though. I think what's been said before, and seems to be true, is that Buzz wants a point guard, a post and then a bunch of interchangeable guys at the 2,3 and 4 to give him tons of flexibility and the ability to create matchup problems for opponents.

I think Jones will play mostly 3. On a site that someone posted yesterday he was voted the best SF coming into the Big East next year.

every site has him listed at 6'6. But yeah I heard the annoucners say he was 6'5 alot so he probably is a generous 6'6. but hes also got some weight so hes built solidly for a guard. He could be alot like Wes from what i have seen. Hopefully he brings the same production.

From what I saw these last 2 days, Jones is significantly more explosive than Wes - hops-wise, and off the bounce.  That said, he does not appear to play with the same intensity Wes played with from Day 1 at MU.  As others have said, hopefully Buzz will get max effort out of JJ, and I trust that Buzz will.  I do think that his coach at Montverde gives Jamail the freedom/flexibility to be a rover defender of sorts - and this does give the appearance that he isn't defending intensely.  I hate to say this, but I'd almost be slightly disappointed if JJ's production were the same as Wes's - as from what I've seen these last 2 days, JJ looks like he has a higher ceiling than Wes.  The question will be if he can reach that ceiling by having the toughness and work ethic that Wes had - if so, he'll be a better player at MU than was Wes.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

i get what you are saying with the dissappointment, but we should be pretty deep as is. If he puts up wes numbers i like our chances in the eyars to come.

My take on JJ.
Pros: Superb FT shooter, attacks the basket well, great range as a shooter, excellent body with the possibility of developing a good post up game with all the switches Buzz's offense causes
Cons: Very low motor, not aggressive on the boards, poor close out skills

It seems Buzz will have to give him pine time unless his energy level is vastly improved. I didn't see him run the break or even chase one either offensively or defensively. Excellent potential player but unproven until he learns every possession counts.

very low motor?  They never got the ball to him the last 10 minutes looking for Bell instead.  This game does not provide sufficient evidence to draw your conclusion.

Yes, very low motor. I saw him play all 3 games in the tourney plus another game earlier in the season. If you think he plays hard the majority of his time on the court you must have low expectations.
