He was a pain in our side for a few seasons in Conference USA.  I always hated the guy but thought he was a good coach.

I haven't really followed Charlotte over the last few years, but I find this coaching change intriguing. I'll be interested to see who is hired for this job because I think Charlotte is trying to position itself to move into the Big East. They're adding football (2013?) and a lot of the feasibility plans mentioned the Big East as the conference Charlotte should try to compete in. The AD has also said she hopes to follow South Florida's path. IF the timing is right, and IF the Rutgers or Pitt to the Big Ten rumors turn out to be true, I can see Charlotte making a case to be the replacement school.

I'd take Charlotte over Memphis in the Big East.  Granted I'd take almost anyone over Memphis.
