Blackhat

Very good player for Hamilton.   Is 6'6" and a good leaper.   Currently is a verbal commit to Iowa State and a member of the 2011 class.

Seems like a player Buzz covets, the long wings.   Will be interesting to see how hard Buzz goes after the Hamilton duo of Harris and Cook.

Milwaukee Hamilton under Tom Diener.

I would imagine not that hard at all considering he's already verbaled.  Keep him on your radar in case things change and move on.

A verbal isn't worth the paper it's written on......oh wait.

And yes that means we too have to keep recruiting our guys even after they verbal to MU.

I don't think it's quite as bad as you make it seem.  Plus it's pretty unethical to be recruiting hard among guys with verbals, which would make it even harder to recruit.  And it also seems to go against Buzz's character.

But I openly admit I don't know jack, so maybe Buzz is on him...

This isn't football...the percentage of players that verbal and end up at the school they first verbal to is pretty high.

Blackhat

Don't see anything unethical about it.

In fact if Buzz was in sales his boss would be pissed if he didn't continue to keep trying to get the sale.

Keep showing Cook the good sides of Marquette.   This is assuming Buzz wants Cook of course.

It does happen though, doesn't it.   Vander Blue case in point and it was orchestrated well by Buzz.

A coach will continue to recruit a player, even if he as verballed...unless the player tells him not to.

Plus I don't know how McDermott's contract is structured but he may get canned soon.

If schools take verbals from sophomores or to be juniors they shouldn't be surprised if other programs after waiting for these kids to mature a little more come calling later in the process.

I don't really believe it was "orchestrated" by Buzz.  Things happened on their own, a situation developed, and Buzz got into the mix.  Nice work by buzz, but I don't believe he started the ball rolling.

Lots of thing "happen."  It's the frequency that is being debated here, and the argument of whether to recruit a kid after he's verbaled is the issue.

Please tell us all how Buzz orchestrated the Vander Blue recruitment in such well manner.

Define hard.  Someone mentioned that if Buzz were in sales, his boss would want Buzz to continue to sell.  True, but we don't want him waste alot of time and energy on a wild goose chase and miss out on other opportunities.  I agree that you need to continue to recruit because its life and $hit happens and if good prospect backs out of a verbal, we want to be the front runner.

Unlike football, most Div 1 coaches will not recruit after a player is committed to another school. It's an unwritten "gentleman's" agreement among coaches. It's also the reason that Coach  K is getting so much heat for his backdoor recruitment of Doc River's other son who has been committed to Florida for over a year.
