Tommy Le Tank Boiled at PU
« on: March 04, 2010, 07:34:15 AM »
The french have a phrase for Indiana basketball under Tommy Le Tank its "le stinko."  Purdue, playing without one guy who can shoot route Le Tank and his charges.  Just waiting for the viking funeral references to start on the IU boards.  Pat Knight where are you.

Chipos stale buns will undoubtedly be here touting the wait and see approach.  You would expect nothing less from the former tape room janitor/intern under Le Tank.

Honestly, that was no where near as bad as I thought it would be.

Made me laugh.

Thanks for quoting him (he's on my ignore so I don't read him).  That is pretty funny stuff, especially from a clown like him who actually thinks Pat Knight is going to coach at IU someday.  Talk about someone who is in outter space.

I wonder if Dutchie will be around in a few years if they turn it around, I suspect no.

The better question is if Crean will be around when they turn it around!

Don't know, we'll have to wait and see.  He'll either be a very very rich man and not be around.  Or he'll be a very very rich man and be around.  Huge contract and IU's athletic finances suck.  They're paying multiple basketball and football coaches right now that aren't at the school.  Will more alums just pony up to pay for it?  Maybe.  Who knows.

Did you know he plays for the NBDL's Bakersfield Jam with another hated, MU enemy: Reece Gaines?

This is a marked departure from your previous position that the powers that be at IU are happy with Crean and stand 100% behind him. Now you seem to be saying that he's likely safe because Indiana can't afford to fire him without help with the buyout. Are you hearing rumblings from some of your contacts at IU?

No, it's not.  He's going to be there for awhile.  Everything I've heard is Glass totally gets that it was a death penalty situation and they started from scratch.  I have no reason to believe he won't be there for the long haul.

In my mind, they're still very much on plan.  I had them dead last a year ago.  9th or 10th this year with a healthy Creek.  Next year I believe they will be around 7th and a NIT team, the year after probably 5th and back to the NCAAs.  From there, who knows where it goes.

I can't believe Wardle hasn't seen through Tommy's act by now.

Wardle probably needs a job more than anything else.

Isn't he currently an assistant with UWGB?

Could be right.

I only say it because sometimes TC is made out to be a monster.

TC is still probably a d*ck, I just don't think he's as bad as some people make him out to be. If he was, nobody would ever want to work or play for him more than once.

He could be as bad as people make him out to be, but it doesn't mean aspiring coaches won't latch onto him for their own further advancement.

Got to play the game.

The way he is described by a few select posters around here makes him sound like the worst person in college sports, so I can't imagine it being "worth it" to coach for him.

I don't think Wardle or Townsend or Barone coaching for him proves that TC is a good person, but I do think that it shows he's not the worst person, or as bad as he is sometimes depicted here (again, by a few select posters).

Wade has nothing to gain by associating with Crean, but he does. Same with Novak, Deiner, etc.

This isn't a "smoking gun" or "proof"... I'm just sayin'... The guy can't be THAT bad, ya know?

McRobbie (the President of Indiana University), is coming out here to speak to us in late March so it will be fun to pick his brain on a few TC things
