He trails GT by 16 points for 2nd all-time in Marquette history.

Looks like he's 227 points from McNeal.  Supposing 2 BET games, and 2 NCAA games .. he'd need to average 38 ppg.  Let's add one more game in there, 32ppg.  Another, 28ppg.

So .. he's pretty much locked into 2nd place all-time.

Its amazing; that record stood for so long and now two guys who played together for 3 years both break it in back to back years.
When it comes to retiring jerseys it would seem you'd have to retire McNeals since he holds the record.  But what do you do for Lazar and for that matter Wes and DJ.  Wish you could honor the whole group.

Who recruited the top two scorers in Marquette history?  Nice gets by Crean, especially considering the hundreds of players who came through the program before anyone remotely approached the record.  Tom Crean may be struggling right now, but he provided MU with some of the top scorers in school history and proved integral in the school's move to the Big East.  Give the man some credit.

Neither McNeal nor Hayward deserve jersey retirements. Tony Smith and Diener (same number) are the only ones I can think of right now that do. McIlvaine does NOT deserve it (also #34, by the way).

I like Tony Smith (for jersey retirement) as he had both a successful college and pro career.  I'm hoping I'll be able to say the same about Diener.  Until then, I'd vote against him.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.
