Jim Nasiopulos, an associate athletic director at Marquette University in charge of the NCAA men's basketball tournament coming March 19 and 21 at the Bradley Center, keeps two large manuals in his office.

One is a preliminary operations manual that is 387 pages long. The other, the participatory team manual, is 80 pages long.

The NCAA doesn't like to leave much to chance when March Madness begins. And Nasiopulos, who has worked on three previous men's tournaments, and one NCAA women's tournament, knows it better than most.

"You can't rest on your laurels," he said. "It is not Marquette's tournament. It's the NCAA's."

Marquette will host eight of the 64 teams in the first and second rounds of the tournament. Nasiopulos said Milwaukee and two other cities were the first cities to read more...

That's a nice story.  I've always liked Jim, though I'm sure he saw me as the MUTV pain in his rear when I was a student.
