Thanks for your analysis. Aren't you glad this is an opinion board where we all can offer opinions---and then blast somebody else's?

It's the consensus opinion that you need a hug.

99.9% of your analysis is about how Cooby and Acker suck...just sayin' ::)

My bad--sorry--I meant Cuby and Acker.
I am surprised more people did not bitch about that--only bitched about my analysis.

Interesting, I didn't know posting the same things game after game, whether MU is winning or losing is analysis. My bad... Looking forward to your analysis of Saturday's game.

Just in case you are having trouble waiting, I'll give you a preview...a couple of our point guards suck and shouldn't be playing at the same time.  I'd name them, but I don't want to completely spoil the surprise.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

On a positive note:  It was great to see EWill having 2 great defensive possessions in a row without fouling.  His defense on a baseline drive got me all hot and bothered.

7 minutes with no fouls and 4 rebounds (1 offensive), along with getting to the line (although he missed the front half of a 1 and 1, is good to see.  Hopefully he continues to make progress!

TheButlerDidIt

I was also happy that he took the open jumper in the second half. Granted, he missed it, but I can't help but think he'll be making more of those than missing in the future.

Don't forget the part about Buzz being an idiot.

Glad we won, but:
Blew a 26 point lead down to 10 to 12.
Acker threw up a ton of bricks--1 for 9. He and Cuby were 2 for 14. Let Cadougan play. There is no need for both Acker and Cuby playing at the same time. Acker and Butler are huge defensive liabilities.

50 plus fouls in the game.

Clearly pathetic!
Cadougan looked pretty awful in his limited 2nd half minutes last night (I missed the 1st half).  They started pressing around the time he went in and he couldn't handle it at all.  Was definitely not ready to contribute last night.

NavinRJohnson

Should Junior be playing? Yes. Should we expect a whole lot out of him? No.

tower912

Junior looked a little better in the first half.    Not great, but adequate for a 2-3 minute stretch.    In the second half, it looked like he had not faced a press in a long time and was not sure how the MU press break worked and where his outlets were.    I think Buzz mentioned they hadn't practiced their press break offense this week.

So in summary, better than I thought, but not exactly ready to make WW happy and start taking minutes away from our senior guards either...

Neither were the two guys that he should have replaced. Play ther guy for the future--he has much more upside
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Yes, but willie warrior could cleary teach Buzz a few things about coaching.  If he would have been coaching we clearly would have won by 20+ points.

Someone must have had money on the game.  Stick with the dogs next time.

SaintPaulWarrior

One good sign is that MU made 20-22 free throws over the last 7 minutes of the game.  36-44 for the game.

Downside..after giving up 19 points in the first half, they gave up 50 in the second.  44 of DePaul's points came in the last 13 minutes of the game.

MU_Iceman

I'm finding all of this talk about Jr getting more playing time very amusing...first off, as several people have already said, Jr did not look good in his limited time.  He was slow, tentative, and didn't look like he wanted the ball in his hands [which is a pretty serious issue considering, as a team, you want everything to run through your pg]...there's no doubt that he has the tools to become a very effective contributor, but the kid is coming off a major injury and clearly isn't ready to contribute big minutes.

Furthermore, Acker and Cubillan have been playing fantastic this year...you can bash them all you want for being small and / or limited in what they can do because of their size, but they have stepped up and become big-time leaders for this team.

Lastly, during our pre-conference schedule there were several posters (myself included at times) who felt that Buzz wasn't doing enough to get E-Will, Otule, and Mbao (after his suspension) enough game experience and the argument from others was that they learn better and condition more in practice sessions...shouldn't the same apply here?  Especially considering that we are now IN conference play???  Jr is a liability in gameplay right now and it is more important that he get his wind and confidence back in practice sessions...

my two cents...

Golden Avalanche

The original poster may lose some credibility since he posts like this after every game, and has an agenda against our two Senior guards, but I don't think its a stretch to say we looked pathetic at times last night.

I thought our effort was weak for 30 minutes. We continued our bad habit of allowing the ball to drop on the defensive board and having guys break before we control it. We got beat on a lot of hustle plays. We allowed their pressure to disrupt us, which shouldn't happen to a team playing six guards. We went three very, very, very long stretches without a FG. It was clear we weren't "clicking". All in all, one could call it pathetic play (and I did a couple times last night).

Now, I should say that I think DePaul is such a terrible team that they rub off on their opponent and the other team never gets in a rhythm (i.e. Cuse) which would explain why we've looked our worst against them in both games.
