...yelling at the TV in the final seconds to throw the ball to Frozena and let him try to make a play? I think it was Buyks holding the ball till the clock ran out. Everyone was just standing around, wish Rob would have made a run to the hoop for an ally oop or something.

dsfire

Absolutely no point in running a play with the shot clock off in a blowout just to pad a walk-ons stats, especially with Rutgers already conceding the victory on defense.  Would've been classless.

chapman

Actually, if we're pointing out things we think are annoying (big heads thread), I wish people would just shut up and let the kid play instead of screaming for him to shoot whenever he comes within 10 feet of the ball.

Pakuni

As the clock ran down on that last possession, Buzz could be seen clearly in the background waiving his arms and yelling "No shot, no shot."
Good for him.

Ready2Fly

Before MU even got the ball across half court on the final possession, it was clear that Rutgers was no longer going to foul. They showed a camera shot of Buzz frantically waving and yelling "No shot!" with about 20 seconds left. Should Buycks and Frozena have conspired against the HC to get a meaningless garbage-time basket?

No but if Mbao was in there we should have set him up for his first game basket

I am tired of hearing people scream for him to get in the game.  Listen people I want to see a lot more of Junior before I see more of Frozena, so get over it.

Except that if we see Frozena in there we know we've got the win, so that's a good thing, right?  I'd like to see Frozena in there every game.

couldn't agree more.  don't get me wrong, i love seeing a walk-on get PT since they do bust their butt just like the other players.  however, i'm getting tired of people chanting for frozena at the 6 minute mark.  start chanting for eric williams if you want to yell.  it might be my biggest annoyance this year.  that and when rob is in the game the kid gets a standing ovation everytime he touches the ball.  let him play the game and stop adding to the nerves.  he isn't handicapped so it's not really a special moment for him to catch a ball.

Agreed.  Actually, 3 or the Rutgers players were well off the court with 10 seconds to go.  A shot would have been classless.

Does it also strike anyone else as not only obnoxious, but also kind of rude to Rob? He get's it...he's a walk-on. People only cheer for him because they think it's ironic.

Pretty sure that's not why Lazar's cheering for him.

Lazar cheering for him is different than people chanting his name every time we have a decent lead at 6 min. and chanting his name every time he touches the ball.

Points well taken, didn't really consider the classless angel (agreed) and forgot about Buzz waving off the shot (agreed there too).

I remember a game last year where Frozena got the ball and was open for a shot and the entire bench was going nuts before he even let go of the ball - and then went bonkers for him when he made the basket (Hayward, Matthews, Butler were all on the bench - McNeal and James may have been, too). I loved that moment.

Don't know about anyone else cheering for Frozena - maybe they are doing it to be obnoxious, but I have read in interviews with other players that they love that guy becuse he shows up to every practice, he plays hard, he plays his role and is generally the sweetest kid who expects nothing but wants genuinely to do what he can to help the team. So for me, that is why I get excited for him to get some game minutes.

Agree the team cheering for him may be different than why people in the stands cheer for him...but I honestly tend to think they all root for Rob for the same reason.

But again...all points well taken. I wasn't looking at the bigger picture.

reinko

If anything Fulce should have dumped off the pass before that dunk as Frozena trailed him.
