Last year, Buzz and staff seemed to make really good halftime adjustments.  This year has been mixed.  Nova on the road was one good example.  However, four of our losses have come after we had a halftime lead.  In these games, MU has been outscored 146-106.  That is 10 points per loss in the 2nd half.  Outcoached or the players cannot yet finish?

I think Buzz misses that game experience that Layer provided.  Lundy is there but I think he does a better job on the gameplan prep.  Clearly, with the loss of four seniors and a still inexperienced coach, these close loses go beyond Pomeroy's "unlucky" stat.

DU is all Walker right now.  A junk zone to mix it up?  DePaul was jumping our guards on the perimeter with the zone.  Butler was our key mismatch as a result but he did not step up, and the shots were there and he passed them up.   Zar was non-existent in the 2nd half.  MU had a paltry 17 2nd half shots.  No DJO in the game for the last 0.7?  Cubes was unguarded on that play for a possible half court shot instead of a baseball pass nowhere near the hoop for a tip with only 0.7 left.  No bracketing defense to use up time on the dribbles for the last two DU shots with a Webster ordered dribble hand off to abuse the mismatch on Acker for the 3.

Again, a loss on one possession...and there is plenty of room for second guessing on adjustments and for the need to create our own luck.  Not a stellar coaching game.

You have to have options to make adjustments.    Buzz has 7 players.  2 are under 6 ft.   None are over 6'7.    Our options are limited.    Play harder, play smarter, make some shots.    Those are your options and adjustments.

Those are the same constraints Buzz and staff had in the 1st halves of those games.  Butler and Zar with two shots each in the 2nd half?  Plays out of time outs that consistently don't result in points.  Not using time outs to stop runs.  Sitting your two tallest players when outrebounded by 8?  Leaving your best 3 pt. shooter on the bench with 0.7 seconds left?  Consistent lack of execution when closing out games?

Sorry, giving back 10 points on average in the 2nd halves of those four losses in which you led at halftime is damning on the coaching staff (not that the players are without most of the fault for not closing).  I have been a Buzz fan, but he lost me a bit yesterday.  Buzz and staff need to step it up.  Simply put, MU misses Layer.

I was embarrassed, sitting next to a bunch of kansas fans watching their jayhawks beating baylor....
They asked questions like remember the final four in 03? What happened? DePaul?
it was tough, that was a guaranteed win, and we lost. When are they going to start issuing life insurance plans with diplomas at MU?
