MU basketball is expensive, but profitable
               

The Marquette University men's basketball team plays in the highly competitive Big East Conference.

Highly competitive and highly expensive.

As noted in a brief item in the Chicago Tribune, the Marquette men's program spends more on men's basketball than any other team in the 16-team conference. As reported in a federal Department of Education database, Marquette had expenses of $10,306,548 in the year ending last June 30.
