No. 6 West Virginia 63, MU 62

Morgantown, W. Va. -- This was a Big East opener to forget for the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Just seconds away from posting one of their biggest upsets in recent memory by dropping theNo. 6  West Virginia Mountaineers from the ranks of the unbeaten, they instead faltered down the stretch and fell, 63-62, on Tuesday night at WVU Coliseum.

MU (9-4, 0-1) went 1 for 4 from the free-throw line in the final 1 minute 2 seconds and twice missed the front end of bonus situations in the final 23.4 seconds, then fell victim to the game-winning fallaway jumper by the Mountaineers' Da'Sean Butler with 1.8 seconds left.
