Merritt has actually been playing for awhile, the Japanese basketball league started pre-season in August and actual games the first week of October.

Where is Jerel?  Is he going for the NBDL or waiting for a 15 day contract or something?

Last I heard he was trying to decide between D-League and Europe.  There hasn't been anything out of him since he was cut from the Clippers.

1. I love the fact that McCaskill is still playing basketball.  He got his shot in the NBA for a brief time, but still is out there.

2. I also love the old school "cagers" reference.

Anyone know how much these guys are getting paid?

4everwarriors

Hard to calculate in dollars as most payments, depending on the country, are in goats, chickens, or herbs.
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

GOMU1104

Hard to determine payment, as teams dont often disclose what they are paying players.  Only way to truly find out is from the player himself.

From what I have been told...actually RECIEVING the payment, is a chore in and of itself...and should be considered a success.

This is awesome. Thanks, 77. Can we sticky this and keep it updated like the record book last year?

Man, how much do you remember about Cordell Henry's imporvement going into his senior year? Anyone else remember the game at Cinci? I seem to recall some huge 3s late in a really tight game.

I'd love to see that kinda heart from our current, undersized backcourt as we roll into conference play. At least the shooting part of that doesn't seem like a stretch for Cubie. And, at times, Acker has seemed to have the ability to hit some big shots.

As the guys on crackedsidewalks posted today, anywhere between 7 (humbly) and 11 (cmon pomroy) Big East wins seems humanly possible. Hard to say when defense, rebounding and shooting against high-major talent are all TBD.

If you ever have a chance to go to Margarita Island, Venezuela, please do so.

When I did a story a few years ago on a player I was covering who was considering European teams, that was a huge factor in him turning down what could have potentially been a larger offer from a team in Europe to play in Austrailia. And he also was told by his agent not to publically disclose exactly how much he was making at either location.

If you are really interested in learning about life in the European leagues and the fringes of the NBA I would recommend this book.

"Can I Keep My Jersey?: 11 Teams, 5 Countries, and 4 Years in My Life as a Basketball Vagabond" by former Iowa State player Paul Shirley.

It can be found here  -- http://www.amazon.com/Can-Keep-Jersey-Countries-Basketball/dp/034549136X/

It is basically a collection of e-mails he wrote while bouncing around the world trying to make a living playing basketball.  An easy read and due to the format one you can easily pick up when time allows.  (I read it over the course of several weeks during my daughter's weekly violin lessons!)

Thanks for taking the time to put this together.  It seems that the pay range is rather large over seas.  From close to minimum wage (plus maybe housing and meal money), to a million plus with drivers and other non-cash bonuses.  It really depends in what league and how much of an attraction you are.

Anyway, the guy setting the pick for McNeal got a big hug from the defender.  I think putting your hands around a screener and hugging him would be a foul in the USA.  :)

You're welcome...but it's not really a problem since I bleed BLUE and GOLD. I can only do as much as my butt can endure. ;)

Also...I guess that's how they roll in Belgium. Seeing that they're next door to the Frenchies. LOL
