DeCourcey raises the BS flag on Jay Wright

Interesting Wright would say such drivel on ESPN Radio. I always thought Villanova was a clean program. You have to wonder if it is worth the risk to the program to play someone who might be a violation of the rules.

Same article points out the Univeristy of New Orleans is seriously considering a drop to Division III.  It looks more and more like Buzz knew what he was doing when he left there.

For some strange reason, Wright has this unearned reputation as a clean coach.

Nobody seems to remember this . . .

According the the report, there were a significant number of violations within months of Wright's hiring in March of 2001.  He was a head coach at Hofstra for 7 years, so he was well acquainted with the NCAA rules.

And this doesn't include the violations by the players who improperly used calling cards which got a number of their players suspended.

Of course, all was forgiven because Wright landed one of the top recruiting classes that year.

Wow, that's right. I forgot all about that. For some reason, Jay Wright has this image as a squeaky clean guy. If you read what he's spouting about this kid and that tournament it is pretty pathetic.

The drop to DIII wasn't even on the radar 3 years ago.  This was set in motion about 6 months ago when the students decided not to take on an increase in student fees to fund the program.  If they had, non-issue.

However, didnt they take a decrease in #of students and applicants b/c of Katrina.......i gotta feel its partially related
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Absolutely, but they weren't talking about going DIII three years ago, or two years ago, or last year.  UNO lost control of their situation when the president put the fee vote up for the students to vote on.  Once that lost last spring, that's when it got bad, despite several large donations including from George Shinn (New Orleans Hornets co-owner).
