I caught a few minutes Friday night of the Pittsburgh-Louisville collegiate football game. For the home game, Louisville wore black jerseys that read "The Ville" across the front, over each player's number.

I had never seen these jerseys before, but I have not seen a lot of Louisville football.

I have no strong feelings about the University of Louisville or its athletic teams, but the "The Ville" football jerseys struck me as being incredibly adolescent and silly. Could the university have done anything goofier?

I have read where some people are describing the black "The Ville" jerseys as "gangsta" or as "hood." Since I dabble little in either of those worlds, I will simply describe the jerseys as unbelievably cheesy.

For the record: Pitt 35, Louisville 10. (I have always liked Dave Wannstedt.)

I offer this as an opinion about a football team's choice in jerseys. I wonder if certain posters here will be able to reply without assailing and ridiculing all things "Louisville."

here's something about the Loserville that one can assail: Rick Pitino is a jerk!
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

GGGG

I think Al would have liked "The Quette."

Maybe not.

They shortened the name to reduce the number of different ways the students were spelling Louisville.
