Article in the Madison paper with quotes from his grandfather.

Vander Blue may not make a decision where he'll play college basketball by the early signing period in November, according to his grandfather.

"As far as we're concerned, he's not up against a deadline. I don't think he's really concerned about a deadline," said Art Wilson, Blue's grandfather and spokesperson.

"This is not about a deadline," Wilson added. "It's about making a decision that's going to affect the rest of your life."

If the talented guard from Madison Memorial doesn't decide on a school and sign a national letter of intent during the one-week early signing period that begins Nov. 11, he will have to wait until April 15 for the next signing period to make it official. Wilson said Blue is prepared to do just that if he isn't ready to make a decision next month.

Blue has said that he is trying to decide between Wisconsin, Marquette, Arizona and UCLA. He also has said he is planning on making a decision before the November signing period. But Wilson said Blue doesn't appear close to deciding on any of them.

Vander, talk to Jamil Wilson about waiting until spring to make a decision.

ADDED

You go from being recruited by MU, MSU and Duke to having them use up all their schollies and wind up at Oregon State, 2000 miles from home playing for the school that finished last in the Pac-10.  This cannot be what he planned all along.

(I'll take bets that Wilson tries to transfer to MU before his Junior year.)

And then talk to J-May and Wesley about coming to Marquette. And then come to Marquette.

Isn't Wilson at Oregon, not Oregon State?

Wilson never had an offer from Duke, regardless of when he made his decision.  The other schools involved would have found a scholarship for him if he wanted to come, it wasn't a case of him not having options.

So the kid wanted to go 2000 miles to play for the worst team in the Pac-10?

Yes.

You might want to actually check out Oregon recruiting before you go making statements like that.  They recruit the midwest as hard as any of the midwestern schools.  In their last 4 classes, they've got 1 guy from Michigan, 1 guy from Wisconsin, and 4 guys from Illinois.

Specifically, Wilson chose Oregon over Michigan State and Texas.  He eliminated Marquette in the Fall of 2008.

A team that has produced multiple NBA players during Kent's tenure. A team that is funded by Nike. A team that constantly gets national attention because of that Nike relationship. A team that will provide Wilson with a great opportunity to play and compete against national programs like UCLA and Arizona.

It wasn't a bad decision at all.

Pure speculation/wishful thinking maybe on my part, but if Blue were to sign with MU in the Spring, he'd have to deal with a lot less grief all season for jumping ship on the hometown Badgers.

Speculation and wishful thinking is what this board is all about... I like your train of thought on this one StillWarriors!

And in the spring when he signed, he still had offers from numerous school, Texas, Michigan State and a number of other schools he eliminated from his list. MSU is coming off a national championship appearance, Texas is the best team in the Big 12 and a Final 4 contender every year, and Oregon who was in the Elite 8 a few years back. Not bad for waiting for spring....

I'm almost positive that no matter when Vander decides to commit, hes still going to have some pretty decent schools offering him. He won't need to worry about that.

And I'll take that bet...can about guarantee Wilson isn't at MU, ever (and doesn't try to transfer to MU). Unless Buzz and staff is no longer here

If VB waits to spring he will not be at MU.  MU simply can't wait on him no matter how good he may be.  MU needs to fill the guard( point) w/ the highest we can get.  The injury to JC is just  way to serious for MU not to recruit a real quality guard for the 2110 class.  You just never know how JC will recovery.  A lot depends on blood flow to the area, no way to tell that until, at least , 6 months after surgery.  Recovery is a slow/unknown for  player who needs quickness, ability to stop/start on a dime, jump and good lateral quickness.

Marquette 65....we aren't Duke or North Carolina.  If a player like Vander Blue wants to wait until Spring, we hold open a scholarship spot until Spring.  We still have three scholarships to fill and don't have top 50 players falling over themselves to fill them.

Disagree. More could be going on, that meets the eye.

The other guard options that MU is looking at (that we know about) are likely spring commits anyways.
