And what is their record after giving back all those games and a Final Four appearance the year Rose was there?  Not nearly as impressive compared to the former C-USA teams who made it into the Big East.  Memphis has had a little fun being a big fish in a small pond.  That cannot last forever, they are losing plenty in terms of football, and there is no natural place for them to go.  The future is not bright.  They are wise to get Tranghese on campus to try to get them into any BCS conference that will take them, but it does not seem that they have a bevy of options.

No kidding. Sure, wins, but what kind of level of opposition are we talking about here?

Anyone who thinks that Memphis banging up on UAB, East Carolina, Tulsa, and Marshall in glorified scrimmages each year is better for their program than regularly being tested against the best of the best (not to mention the national TV exposure that comes with it) is at best shortsighted and at worst just flat out crazy.

I kept rooting for UAB to knock them out at some point since they've been a very decent team in recent years.  Unfortunately that seems to have been the case more with Mike Anderson than Davis.

I like Pastner but have a hard time believing he'll be able to keep Memphis as undisputable top dog in C-USA.

That's probably because he has integrity.
