South Dakota Caps Four-Game Homestand To Begin Year On Nov. 24

Over the course of the next two weeks, GoMarquette.com will announce the non-conference portion of its upcoming 2009-10 men's basketball schedule.

One opponent will be released each day, with start times listed when available and subject to change. Marquette fans will have a head start on plans to follow the Golden Eagles next season, rather than having to wait until early September for the complete schedule as they have in the past.

The BIG EAST Conference has announced the home and away opponents in 2009-10, leaving only the dates to be determined. Season tickets are on sale beginning July 13 and can be purchased online or by calling 414-288-GOMU (4668).

Brutal. I know we need the cupcakes but announcing it this way makes it worse.

This is making UWM look like a big game.

T-Bone

Hmm.  They don't show up on Pomeroy (only South Dakota State).

20-9 as an independent.  2nd best indie record next to Seattle at 21-8 (which accounts for 2 of their losses).

I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

I believe last year was their first in Division 1.

But it doesn't look like they played a full D1 schedule.  They beat Buzz's old team (UNO), but I think that was their only win over a D1 school, so the record is deceptive.

dsfire

Wait, Graceland University, Panhandle State and Mount Marty College aren't D1?

The NCAA still lists their basketball team as D2 (http://www.ncaa.com/schools/650_South_Dakota.html), though it looks like they played 4 D1 teams in Cornell, Cincy, Notre Dame, and UNO.  They played North Dakota, Seattle, and SIU-Edwardsville multiple times each - it's not entirely clear but I think all of those teams are transitional D1.

The quick facts listed on MU's site mention that they're in the Great West Conference.  I've never heard of it so I checked out their website and this is easily the most geographically diverse conference ever.  Here are the members...

Cal-Poly
Chicago State
Houston Baptist
New Jersey Institute of Technology
North Dakota
South Dakota
Southern Utah
Texas Pan-American
UC-Davis
Utah Valley

The Great West is essentially the conference for those new to Division 1.

My brother is going to Law School in USD.

Hopefully he bets me on the game and takes his school.

Why have they stopped anouncing the non conference games after they anounced the South Dakota game?

I thought they were going to announce a game every day for two weeks.

The Old Spice Classic was announced on Friday - the cupcake parade resumes on Monday.
