Little tidbit:

Per the national Rivals Board: Jerry Meyer says
"per quality source, Marquette is looking good. Trying to get a hold of Kane."

Marquette_g

From the reports on this board, that would seem to make a lot of people happy.  Has some size (6'4"), is a guard, and can hit the outside shot.

I'm sure there will be naysayers, but he sounds like a good get.

Blackhat

I've seen him listed from 6'2"- 6'4", so who knows.   But yeah, I think he's one of our better options this late in the game at guard.   And who knows maybe if there is big coach movement this off season we could find turn the tables and get a decommiter this time.

MR.HAYWARD

originally a Pitt commit out of HS so purely based on that is probably really solid.  then did not qualify and went Prep route, since then decommited from Pitt some say he committed to Seton hall this fall but he says he b=never did.

here is the Espn write ups.  they rank him as an 88 which makes him a 100-125 type national ranking

January, 2009: Kane has very good quickness, combined with good length, which makes him very difficult to cover. He seems most effective when he has the ball playing as a point guard where he can score of the dribble, by using this quickness to get to the hole. Kane has the ability to hit jumpers with range from 3, but he needs to increase his accuracy from the perimeter. Kane has good length and can become a very dominant wing defender when he combines his length with his lateral quickness to pressure opposing ball-handlers. Kane also needs to become a better passer and involve teammates more when he has the ball in his hands as the initiator of his team's offense.

December, 2008: Kane did a great job of scoring the basketball at this event. He impressed even more with his relatively good shot selection. Kane did a very good job of staying within himself on offensively, while also remaining aggressive on the offensive end. When confident, Kane can stroke it from beyond the arc as well as use his quickness to get to the paint. Kane also gets in the mid-range for a pull-up, using his quick first step to get past defenders and his good leaping ability to get the shot off. He also has the length and lateral quickness to become a dominant defensive force when he remains focuses and disciplined on the defensive end. As his shot falls, he becomes a much better defender on the perimeter, which will make him a great fit for the rugged, defense-first style that Pitt loves to use. When he maintains his composure, he does an even better job of placing his imprint on the game.

October, 2008: The best perimeter shooter for Patterson School in its scrimmage against Oak Hill was DeAndre Kane. According to Patterson head coach Chris Chaney, Kane has made a "soft commitment" to Pittsburgh, the school that recommended him to Patterson. Kane had earlier played at Schenley High (Pittsburgh) with Pitt player DeJuan Blair. However, he told me last night that he is not committed to Pittsburgh, and is considering other colleges if he qualifies academically. So, stay tuned.

Kane is a 6'3'' shooter. Not a great PG mentality so next level should be exclusively at the 2 spot. Academics have been a little question. More a spot-up guy then a create a shot guy.

In this category, Sherrod Wright would be a better option but Kane should fit in well with the rest of the 09 talent.

Sherrod Wright hasn't been an option for awhile.

True, but do we WANT a kid whose other top choices are Rhode Island and Marshall?
