Who replaces Layer on Buzz's staff?
« on: April 13, 2009, 11:44:12 AM »
Haven't heard any speculation yet, or if interviews are taking place.  Anyone heard who Buzz is looking at to replce Layer?

Any Word on Layer's Replacement?

I felt Dale was that veteran bench coach that Buzz needed. Hope we can land another good one with his replacement. Does anyone know who might fill this important spot? Has there been speculation on a name or two?

If Cottingham was running this process we'd already have hired the student manager to replace Layer.

I'm not sure who you would have hired, but I will say that Marquette was playing the best basketball (up until James Injury) that I have seen since the year we went down to the final 4.  Both as a group, but that also WES, JAMES, JM and LAZAR were playing the best basketball individually as well.

It will be real interesting to see how, Miller, Bennett, and Grant do in the rebuilding jobs that they have moved on too, and which team (including MU)is the first to make the sweet 16.

I would be disappointed if Monarch simply gets elevated to Asst. Coach.  While I'm sure he's a nice guy, I'd like someone with more D1 exposure.

The Monarch promotion would make me concerned that the Juco trend was becoming an annual strategy.

While I'm not up on top Asst. Coaches, I'd love for Wardle come back for some more seasoning at Marquette.

But who knows, Coach Rab might give old Buzz a call.    ::)

What about Russ Pennell (SEC, Big 12, and Pac 10 experience)

I heard that Billy Gillispie was on a plane headed toward the north central part of the U.S....

He was named head coach of Grand Canyon University back on April 8th.  They are currently D2 but planning on moving up to D1.
