Have MU losing to USU in the 1st round of their bracket? A lot of the brackets I've came across in the past two days have USU beating MU. I think MU wins, but this game really scares me. It seems like a lot of MU fans are overlooking USU just because they play in a weaker conference and they aren't a "sexy" name. I hope this game doesn't turn out like that Dayton game.

I agree...I mean this is a game we should win, but who knows what can happen.

I think the USU looks sexy but MU is gonna win.  Who cares.

The only way Marquette loses is if we have a FT shooting night like we did down at the Sun Dome.  10-23.  43.5% at the line.  Not gonna' happen very often.

So, yes, USU might win.  But I wouldn't put it in my bracket.

If I wasn't a homer, I'd certainly pick USU.   But I'm a guy that loves the underdog

with our sleek new look, MU to go through USU like a hot knife through butta.

This morning's Wall Street Journal gives MU a 55% chance of winning, which percentage-wise makes it one of the closest first round games. The fact that Utah St. has a 6'9" 240 lb. center who shoots nearly 60% from the field and 83% from the line is scary. It looks like they are strong where we are weak. And without DJ, it's tough to be too optimistic about going very far in this tournament.

Sunday's game is at 4:15 pm Central Time.  Keep that time slot open to watch MU-Missouri.

MU was a 7 point favorite when the brackets were announced.  They were very quickly bet down to a 4.5 point favorite.  It looks like a sexy bet.

I honestly have Utah State winning. But I also pick more upsets than usual if I don't think a team will make the sweet 16 because you only lose one point. If USU wins, thats 1 point almost no one else in my pool will have. If MU wins, its not a big loss because they won't cost me any points in the second round

Doesn't that mean the money is being laid on MU to win?"

No.  When the point spread goes against you it means the money is being wagered against you.

It's a tournament game so obviously there is a chance that a team catches fire or catches the other team on an off-day.  It's the beauty of the tournament in that it's not a 7 game series where the teams battle for the series win.  Teams know that one slip up and they are done, so obviously there is a chance USU takes it.  If Marquette picks up early foul trouble and Jerel tries to be Dominic and not play within his game, USU will play efficient while Marquette beats themselves.  It's what I really like about this matchup, that USU is going to play the same, game in and game out, because they have a very set style of play.  It's their gift and their curse you could say.
