Living in Portland, I'd gladly take a 4 or 5 out west, which I know would not be the popular choice among most of this board.

I'm with you...and hope some teams can get upset so I can watch'em!

I just went based on Lundardi's bracketology.  The seed locations are set ahead of time I believe and I trust Lundari got them right.

Although he had Texas and Wisconsin playing each other in the first round which isn't possible....

I thought the seed locations were up in the air until Selection Sunday...so the committee could do all they could to keep the top seeds close to home.

I'm pretty sure the seed locations are set ahead of time.  I thought when venues advertise tickets they advertise which seeds will be there.  For example I thought in 2007 the United Center advertised having the 1, 16, 8 and 9 seeds well before Selection Sunday.

I could be mistaken though.

Here is my thinking, and this is hypothetical, but if UCLA was in line for a 1 seed this year...I am pretty sure they would be sent to Portland.

Well I guess these are the seed locations that are Lundari's best guess!

Yea, I'm not 100% sure on the process either, but if you look at Bracktography, the seed locations are slightly different.

That's true.  Guess these are Lundardi's then.

The last conclusion is the right one. Locations aren't "assigned" a certain set of seeds. Teams get placed in whatever way fits the bracket and keeps the top ones close to home. Specifically, teams seeded 1-4 are supposed to be "protected." For example, that should mean that if Washington ends up a 5 or 6, they won't be in Portland because that's not "protecting" the 3 or 4 seed that has to travel further to go there as well.

As for the Texas/Wisconsin matchup, on Monday Lunardi's bracket was actually the ESPN mock selection seminar thing, and Andy Katz addressed that as a mistake they had made.

Seed locations are not determined until Selection Sunday unfortunately, so there is no way to tell yet.  However, the dates of the particular location's games are made in advance... for example, Minneapolis will take place on Fri/Sun no matter what seeds are put there.

Obviously there can be some solid guess work which may hold true... for example, Greensboro will likely hold 1-16 and 8-9 matchups due to UNC.  Greensboro's other double-header will probably a 2-15 and 7-10 games, with Duke/Wake/Clemson getting the 2 spot.

Great thread, but you may want to change the post as a hypothetical.  Nothing will be set in stone until 2 weeks.

I would love to have us in Miami. Of course, I already have tickets for those games.  ;D
