Dickie V trying to earn some love before his vist?

Just was looking at the power rankings that came out today and I was surprised by Dickie V's rankings.

He has MU at #6 right now. Now I'm a current student and love our basketball team, but after losses to USF and 20 pts to Nova, I'm not sure we can be considered #6. Most the other columnists have us somewhere between 9-11, and Fran Fraschilla is hating on us down at #15.

I'm just wondering if Dickie is trying to pad his approval rating with MU fans before he shows up in Milwaukee next week.

No surprise about Fraschilla. He's one of Crean's best friends; he once strongly considered an opportunity to be his Lead Asst at MU and often spent a lot of time at MU preseason and regular season practices "putting another set of eyes" on things for TC. Last year he wrote several very high praise articles about MU after one of his preseason visits.

He'd never give Buzz credit for getting more out of the Amigos than TC might have had he stayed.

I wonder if Fran is kicking himself for not taking that assistant coaching job a few years ago. If he did, maybe, just maybe, he would now be MU's Head Coach.

Just so I'm clear:

You think Frachilla's friendship with Crean gives him a negative bias towards MU?

Wouldn't Frachilla be over-positive so he can give Crean props for recruiting those guys?

I don't know Fran at all, so I have no idea... but I think the Tom Crean paranoia around here is a little over the top.

MU isn't getting respect because Tom Crean is against us??

Remember the article Pat Forde wrote about Villanova jumping over Marquette for a top 4 Big East tourney seed?  That was written less than two weeks ago.  On his ballot he has MU 7th and Nova 15th.  I just think its rather interesting.  I wonder if he still feels Nova is going to forge ahead of the Eagles come Big East tourney time.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean.

IF you believe that Fran's friendship with Crean influences his voting, it would probably make him rank MU higher.

My real point is that "Creananoia" is alive and well around here.
