Barro gets props from Seth Davis

I know Marquette's guards get most of the attention, but keep your eye on the development of 6-10 junior forward Ousmane Barro. He had his best game of the year (17 points, 13 rebounds) in the Golden Eagles' win at UConn last week. If he can consistently produce like that, it will really change the game for Marquette

Its almost hard to believe someone is talking about Ooze instead of the guards but it is nice to see.

I'm ready to declare Ooze the Most Improved Player of the season...and it is only mid-January.  He seems to look better each game I see.  Aaron Gray will provide a significant test.  Before the season, I'd say Ooze would get smoked.  But after watching him hold his own against McRoberts, Thabeet, Padgett, etc. I am excited to see the match up.  Imagine if he had actually played competitive basketball before he hit the AL...

I second this.. if we can get this production out of him consistently for the rest of the season then he definitely should get that nomination.. anyone else stoked that we get to watch him play all next season too??? if he keeps progressing like this he'll be an unbeatable  juggernaut down low!

Lets hope he doesn't get too excited, or that there is a ref with a hair trigger whistle.    I can definitely see foul trouble against Gray.  However, if he stays out of foul trouble, I can see him wearing Gray out racing down the floor, like he did Padgett and Thabeet.   Can you picture Ooze next year with a couple of post moves?  Also, he needs to learn to pass out of the post.   But I love the attitude and how far he has come.

i love what ooze is doing, no doubt about it.  but an honest look at his game shows that he still has no back-to-the-basket post game whatsoever.  all of his points seem to come off of quick dishes from the guards for a lay-up, or else he is simply beating his man down the floor.  again, those are both awesome attributes for a big guy: the ability to show oneself in the post and catch the ball in traffic, and to simply out hustle your opponent.  however, i would really like to see ooze develop one or two moves in the post this summer.  IIRC, he received the ball while posting his defender twice vs. louisville.  one resulted in a travel, and the other was a missed hook shot.  again, this is not meant to slight his game, or how far he has come.  once he adds the ability to create his own shot, ooze truly will be a force in the paint...

and right now, that's transition and quick movement to the basket for the most part.

Don't disagree at all.  Just stating that if that part of his game developed it would put us at another level.  imagine we are on the road, trying to waste clock time because we have the lead, but still needing a score because the other team is putting the pressure on (sound familiar?).  how much better would we be if we could throw it down to ooze with about 7-8 seconds left on teh shot clock and let him manufacture a basket every few possessions.  would take pressure off our guards, open up outside shots, and put ooze on the line more, where he is surprisingly effective.  again, not saying ooze's game is poor, doesn't fit our team, or should be completely changed.  but if he had a post move or two IN ADDITION to his hustle plays...like i said, he'd be a force.
