If I'm counting it right, MU is 5 and 1 against ranked teams (ranking as of the time MU played them).  If current rankings hold, they have another 6 games against ranked teams.  And this does not count the possibly of playing more ranked teams in the BE tourney.

Is playing 11+ ranked teams in a season a record for MU?

How about the NCAA record?  Could that be set this year by another BE team that had a tougher non-conference schedule than MU?

It would tie a record if the rankings hold.   MU has played 11 ranked teams in a season, counting the NCAAs, in the 1976-77 season.  We went 6-5 in those games (4 of them in the NCAAs)

In the 93-94 season we played 9 ranked teams (2 in the NCAAs).  We were 5-4 against ranked teams that year.

In 95-96 we played 7.  We went 5-2 against ranked teams that year.

In 73-74 we played 7 ranked teams. We were 5-2  (4 of those games in the NCAA tournament)

In 2006 we played 7 ranked teams in regular season and conference tournament.  We were 3-4 that year against ranked teams.

In 2003 we played 7 ranked teams, but four of those games were in the NCAA tournament.  We were 5-2 that year against ranked teams.

Incidentally, I don't have the breakdown of last year so that wasn't included

I'm seeing 4-8 for last year.

That was the record?  If so, then those 12 games would be the record, not the 11 this year...of course if we play ranked teams in the Big East Tournament and/or NCAA we would pass 11.

I show us playing 11 for the regular season.  When you add the BE and the NCAA tourneys, we SHOULD move well pass 12 this year.

Yup, of course it depends who we play and who knocks us off.  With the record we have, we're going to have a good seed in both tournaments which means playing unranked teams.  If we don't get knocked off, you are right.
