This team's a blast to watch - Stanford loss effect
« on: January 22, 2009, 05:59:09 PM »
I agree that this team is a blast to watch.  Seeing MU in the final ten minutes of the Providence and NC State games was like watching them 30 years ago as a kid.  There is a confidence and a bond there that is a thing to behold.

My guess is that the Stanford loss last year has been a great teacher. (They were tenacious in that one as well, but it seems this team refuses to consider losing a tough one on the road.)

I am not in the huddles, but the smiles on the bench at TOs show a plain love (and respect) for their coach. I saw James jokingly pat the top of Williams' head at a critical point of the Providence game. Williams just smiled back. Buzz seems a bit Pete Carroll-esque by keeping even the tense moments loose with a smile.

Downside? The collective record of our Big East opponents to date is 10-17 in the league and 67-44 overall.

This team is yet to test its mettle.  It will be an exciting February to be sure.

Let's hope that the younger players on the team are taking notes...

The schedule is what it is.  All we can ask of the team is to win, and so far they have done very well, one win at a time.  I liek the focus, but as everyone has said, the meat/steel of the BEast is yet to come.  So let's not look ahead of DePaul.  Right now, DePaul is the only thing that matters.

Who here after the Dayton game really thought we would be 5-0 in the BEast at this point with wins over Nova and WVU? Why do people here feel the need to degrade our record or our ranking?  This team is playing well and winning some tough games.  We are going to lose a few in the BEast and we may not remain in the top 10 for long but that doesn't tarnish our current record or standing.  Let's just enjoy the moment for once.
