My wife got us tickets for that game as a Christmas present.

I should be there.  Verizon Center is massive, but there a ton of MU alumni in the area, and are usually represented well.

I went in 2007 and it was great despite the result.   Got some tickets for lower bowl and there were white T shirts waiting on every seat.  I sat there in my gold sweatshirt.  GT puts students at each end of the court, but they don't wrap around into some of the other sections of the lower bowl like MU does.  The BC has much more student seating.   They yell HOYA....SAXA back and forth at each other, which is cool game experience.  The Verizon center is right on a metro line and there are lots of restaurants right outside the VC.   Not too far of a walk from the mall also.  I recommend that if you have the chance that you go.

The BC is louder.

dwaderoy2004

outside of the alumni group, which has a block of tickets i would guess between 75-100, i have a block of 25 tickets, and a friend of mine has a block of 25 tickets.  we should have a good group, and hopefully we can see a good upset and make some noise.  we won;t pack the upper deck like a syracuse or a pitt can, but we should have a couple thousand there i would guess.

on a side note, i find georgetown fans to be particularly annoying.  From my experience, the students are pretty fair-weather and unknowledgable.  one even poured beer on my bro's head two years ago.  he might have been wearing a "georgetown blows" t-shirt, but whatever.

+1 on some GT fans being jags.

While I was sitting in the lower bowl in my yellow sweatshirt....a GT "fan" was leaving the game 5 minutes early and gave me a smartass comment as he shuffled by in a hurry ( I was on the aisle).

Fixed  :D

Anyway, I went to DC for the game in 2007, and will be going back next month. I'm probably (definitely) a homer, but the Bradley >>> Verizon. At least, being a pro stadium, they sell beer. Speaking of which, did anybody else hear Vitale bitching about "kids drinking beer at 11am" during the Pitt-G'Town game? Who gives a sh!t?

Bought 16 tickets. 8 for MU people here in DC, 8 for people in the Midwest -I cannot WAIT for this weekend.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Made the trip with foreverwarriors and a couple others as a student in 06, a top 5 college moment. Awesome trip. Cannot wait for the sequel. This time flying out Thursday night as opposed to driving overnight.

The Verizon is not even in the same neighborhood as the BC when it comes to atmosphere and game experience. I'd guess there were 3-4,000 MU fans there last time around. Hopefully they all come back as Georgetown is beatable this year.

I still remember getting the call from MUFan12 at like 11PM in a bar in Foggy Bottom, telling me that he had just crossed into Ohio....

Unfortunately, I broke my ankle, and am going to be on the shelf thru the end of February/early March, so I'm going to have to sit it out this year  :'(.  However, I urge anyone that's looking for an MU road trip to take this one.  There's TONS of MU alums out there, plenty of great sights if you get out a day or two early, and lots of fun places to go after the game.  Just find your way to Kelly's Irish Times at the end of the night if you can...

Recently became pretty good friends with a double Gtowner (UG and Law) . . . she's getting us tickets.

Apparently, she lived in the same building as the players and is friends with a lot of them . . ., so she took personal offense to the horrible things I call Roy Hibbert.

I'll second the General's comments.  Kelly's basically turned into an MU bar that night.  Usually live music in the main bar and the lower level that feels like your standard basement kegger.  Either way you can't lose.

Hopefully there will be some kind of reception before or after the game and we can get together.
This will be the third winter in a row we put 2,000 miles-plus on the car going to MU games. The week previous, we're driving to MKE for the St. John's game.

I went to DC last time MU played Gtown, it was a great weekend and lots of fun.

arrrrgh.... darn my schoolwork and lack of income!!  you guys put me all to shame!!!  I was thisclose to hopping a plane to Nashville for the TN game .  . . well, not really, but a girl can dream :/  however, i *am* paying my iLLiNois away game dues and going to BC south, and I did attend our miserable loss to Dayton, but maybe if more people had shown up . . .

PS If anyone is caravaning from the milwaukee area to these away games and they're on weekends . . . let me know

gjreda

This'll be my first MU game in DC - Anyone know how soon I need to get my ticket request into the DC Club?  I know sooner is better than later, but I'm waiting to hear from some friends who might make the trek out, so I'd like an idea of the deadline if possible.

WashDCWarrior

If anyone needs tickets, let me know. We have a block of 70, and have some remaining. They are upper deck, center court, about halfway up. PM me if you're interested, and I'll give you details.

jaybilaswho?

do you have to register for the reception in order to get a ticket?

WashDCWarrior- I may need to take you up on your offer. I will PM you if need be.

I am heading out to DC for the game. Flights out of General Mitchell are dirt cheap. Gonna be a great weekend.

I booked my flight on Midwest, round trip non-stop, for $145 total after taxes. Flying out Thursday night and back in Sunday evening.

Midwest is having a fare sale until the 13th... really can't beat that price.

arrrrgh.... damn my schoolwork and lack of income!!

My senior year we made the trip on the cheap. Gas and lodging split 4 ways was not a lot. We probably spent more on alcohol than anything. If you can find people willing to drive, take the trip! The drive isn't that bad and with all the MU people there DC is a blast.

And schoolwork is overrated ;)
