He has become a solid addition to this years squad. Probably the best JC pickup in a while.  Meanwhile TT has hit a wall in Kansas.  Looks like KU will be looking to improve in that area, oh well.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

What?  A freshman starting for the defending national champions has hit a wall?

OH NOES.

Today was where I truly believed we have the sixth man we need in Butler.  Though not great, his defense looked better, and he looked much, much more comfortable handling the ball than he has in the past.  A  HUGE improvement, in my opinion.  He's gotten so much better from the timid guy in the rotation to a solid player, and looks on track to get even better.  I would not be surprised at all to see Jimmy Butler either as a starter or one of the best sixth men in the country next year.

Jimmy B is 6th man bu default------to tell it like it is he's a big dropoff from the guy he replaces----JUCOs need a transitional year, but in this case that transitional year by necessity beckons him for considerable minutes.

I do think he will not only be a starter next year----but will be considerably improved.

ATWizJr

no, he's the 6th man of choice.  Doesn't matter why he's the 6th man, He's come in and done the job and been fairly reliable.  A key for us at this point.

last 2 games, I feel JB has showed very well that he fits this team and his current role on it.
he spelled several players, and handled it all nicely.

hitting his ft's
rebounding well....

would like to see his scoring mentality and mid range shot appear.

this should bode well for his expanded use next season.
sure he's a drop off from McNeal, Wes, DJ... but who in college hoops isn't, Murff??

Butler is improving steadily. He is rebounding well and hitting his FTY's. That shows that he is in the mix at the right time.

I agree that he needs to go up with more authority and start to exert a mid range jumper. I also think that they need to get him in the weight room to improve his strength.

Let's not forget that for the most part they have him playing the 3 and 4, which are not his best positions.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

muball

As he gains confidence and a better understanding of the offense he hopefully will make some mid range shots etc. He difinitely needs to work on his left hand layup or put backs. He doesnt finish from the left side at all. He could of hand numerous 3 pt plays.

He is like Acker in that he has to play because we don't have anyone else, but the team generally plays poorly while either of them are on the floor for extended minutes.  The only guy that comes off the bench that doesn't result in a big drop-off is when Hazel comes in for Burke.  He has been the most pleasant surprise to me this year.  Based on the fact that despite our size woes last year he couldn't get on the floor and we preferred a one-legged Mbakwe to him, I just assumed he couldn't play a lick.  That is not the case at all.

I think Butler is showing great improvement and I hope it continues. New players take time to adjust.

What an incoherent post.

Not sure why you bring up a player from another school when attempting to praise the play of Jimmy.  ?-(

I don't see Jimmy starting during his career at MU but I do love the way he is playing, especially on the defensive end. He will improve as a solid 6th or 7th man and can perhaps help lead the great class we have coming in.

He will have a lot of experience over the incoming freshmen. One of his weaknesses is that he is not strong enough. I would expect him to start, if he hits the weight room hard in the off season. Our incoming freshmen have some talent, but they will have a lot to learn befroe they are really ready.

All good points - although I think Cadougan should be ready start right away, and a combination of Buycuks/Maymon/Williams should be in there too. Unless that is too much of wishful thinking...
