still not ranked?  good, more fuel for tonight's game...

Sir Lawrence

I'm thinkng we'll be ranked in the AP poll.

How the f*#k can a team just barely out of the rankings in the first place beat two top-25 teams in one week and only get as high as 29 in the ESPN poll?!?! I'm more confused than angry.

Marquette had only 1 vote in the coaches poll last week.  We jumped from one vote to 4th most in the "also receiving votes" category.  In the AP, we were just out last week.  And now we're ranked #24 there.

I'm good with the rankings.. now's the time to start our slow crawl up into the top 10.  gotta keep it slow.. big jumps can happen either direction so I am good with small slow baby steps!

besides, we want to be under the radar as long as possible.. it's all good :)

this time of the year it is small moves...
look at teams like Air Force, Nevada and especially Butler-- they don't play the conference schedule we do, but they're ranked pretty far up there, and won't like go down much because they ought to be beating up on most of the teams in their conference-
would think that the pollsters would give 'em a push on a stinker game before tossing 'em out completely like they did MU-
but I can't imagine them moving down even beating their conference UWM's of the world weekly.

Butler is WAY overrated at 15... they've lost to UIC & Indiana State and before I hear about their great wins, let me give them out... Gonzaga (unranked), ND (#20), Tenn (#24), and IU (unranked).  I know that rankings are meaningless at this point of the season, but I think we've got a much better resume.

What I don't get is in the coaches poll how WSU and Maryland could lose and move up 2 and 3 spots respectively, while Tennessee loses twice and only drops from 20 to 24.  I could see Maryland keeping thier ranking since thier one win last week was against a ranked team, but WSU lost to an unranked opponent and beat a bad team but move up two?  This makes absolutely no sense to me.
