A proud Dad here. My HS senior daughter received her MU acceptance letter for fall 2009 in the mail yesterday. She's getting an opportunity I never had (went to a local state university which shall remain nameless, and hopefully winless against us forever). She's very excited as are my wife and I. MU was always her #1 school of which I encouraged. Although I'm not a MU grad, I will be a very proud MU Dad for the next few years. Go Marquette!

Congrats!!!

The MU experience is a truly unique life experience.

I still have my acceptance letter somewhere, and although it was an easy decision, going to MU was the best decision I've ever made.

Congrats!

jaybilaswho?

Congratulations.

Here come the best 4 years of her life.

I will never forget when I got my acceptance letter from MU.  It was the first acceptance letter I had received.  I read the words 'Welcome to MU!'  I will never forget that day.  My parents watched me open the letter and were hoping as much as I was that it was good news.  What a feeling that was...

Congrats to your daughter and to you!!!

Congrats and best wishes. We expect to see her rushing into the Bradley Center multiple times in the next four years. MU will provide her with four of the best years of her life.

That's great news 4th!

Congrats

Nothing better than getting what you want out of life whether it's an acceptance letter or  anything else. Congratulations all the way around.

Anyone know how much a fake ID goes for these days?

They're cheap now.  It's easy to buy card printers and blanks to get your own face on an ID that looks relatively legit at a glance.

Now if we're talking getting into working with holograms and the stuff that shows up under black lights, then you'll be paying significantly more.

As always, it works better to find someone that looks like you to get you a copy of their ID.  That's only $25 or so at the DMV if the individual says they lost it.

Hypothetically speaking of course, skat, right??

I'm too old to be making fake IDs for kids, and my job is too good to make them for miscreants.  I just happened to read an article about a fairly successful counterfeiter, so that was mostly hear-say ;)

Tribby

Not taking a position one way or another on fake IDs, but before any sophomores start getting any ideas, some student got busted making fakes while I was at MU and ended up with a felony conviction. Not worth it.

But back to the main point: Congrats to your daughter!

I actually happened to get rejected by my first choice school, and it turned out to be a definite blessing in disguise. Attending MU was something of an accident for me, but it's shaped my life for the better, no doubt.

Congrats---Exciting news!!
I did not save my acceptance letter but did save the 1st letter for being kicked out due to grades. Best 9 years of my life.

First of all, congratulations!

4ever-I am a current MU student and I got a fake ID before this year and it cost me $120. Not so cheap...Little did i know it would be taken away at Mo's Irish Pub only a couple weeks into the school year...NOT MY FAULT. I gave my ID to a friend for the night...bad idea.

Go Marquette!

Congratulations and welcome to the Marquette family.

We're all over the place, so when your daughter graduates she can find MU folks everywhere!

I hope she enjoys MU as much as I did when I left sunny CA for that frozen univ by the stinky river and lake! I'd do it ALL OVER AGAIN in less than a heartbeat. ;)

This reminds me of my MU acceptance letter which I received in the island of Zanzibar(now part of Tanzania) in 1962. Could never afford to come to MU; but the Jesuits made it possible. Since then it has been nothing but "sea schells and ballons." My 4 years(B.A) plus 2 more years(M.A) has been the best part of my life.

Doctor V

congratulations she will love it

this is an incredible thread to read

I applied to MU 2 days before the deadline because i found out about the pre-dental scholars program. I had already had my housing figured out and was all set to go to university of illinois with all my high school buddies. When i got into the program, i decided i had no choice but to come to MU

7 yrs later and my last year here I cant tell you how much im gonna miss this place. When my buddies ask why i love my school so much I cant put it into words. There is just something about Marquette that does that to you

Being in minneapolis for the Elite 8 in 2003 may be one of the best memories of my life forever

We Are Marquette  ;D

So, I'm curious, 4thandState .. how are you paying for the $38k/year cost?  Grants?  Loans?  Schollies?  Selling a kidney?

jce

My son got his acceptance letter last week too...but alas he has already decided not to follow dear ole dad to MU.  They just don't offer the major he wants.

However, one of his best friends has been offered a partial athletic scholarship there.  We will see...
