Are there any current/former ctw people who will let me know how it is to live there?

Lived there 2000-2002.  Good location, active residents, plenty of socializing, a little loud on weekends, close to most "campus entertainment".  I had most of my classes in straz, and it was a 10-12min walk.

I lived in cte for 2 years.  Pretty cheap, and and it's pretty clutch that you can charge your rent to your tuition bill.

One thing that kinda irked me was that they don't permit kegs.  We just got caught once DPS did confiscate it.

Other than, solid place to live.

Its easy to get Kegs in CTW, just go in the 17th street door, go check out one of their moving bins and put a blanket over the keg on the way on. On the way out, repeat. Just be careful about the amount of people at the party

That was our problem, not getting the kegs in, but then the subsequent number of people that showed up.  I will never forget this, but not only did they make us pour out the remainder of our keg, DPS then took it, and our tap, and didn't give it back because it was considered "contraband".

you let them take the keg and tap, which were not your property?

you only own the beer, and rent the tap and keg...

It isn't theirs to keep.

That's also how to check males into female dorms past 2 A.M. or vise versa.

I know.  But we were drunk 21 years olds, we tried to tell them that.  They said if we had more problems they would just call MPD, blah blah blah.  I ended speaking with one of their Lieutenets, and he said the officers did over reach and shouldn't have taken them.  But the kicker was that the officers, apparently threw them out.

 ?-( ?-( ?-( ?-(

I remember exactly who it was too, it was that orca fat DPS officer.  Probably about 5'9", 4 bills.  He still around?  Pretty hard to miss him.

I would say they absolutely overstepped their boundary.  Tappers usually cost at LEAST $60 to rent and a keg deposit is usually $10.  I'd say they turned in those things for the money...

either way, you were of age, and after everyone left the party and they tried to take the stuff you should have told them to absolutely call MPD because they were trying to steal your property.

they may own the building, but they don't own your stuff.

Keg deposit now is $30. For awhile there, we would eat the Liquor store deposit and scrap it down 16th street for $25.

They banned them in 2002.  I can remember resigning our lease for 2002-2003 and they made a point of telling us that kegs were no longer allowed.  They went so far as to add it to the lease at that point, and you couldn't get an apartment if you didn't agree to allow DPS to come in and remove the keg.  Of course, they said they didn't have a problem with the drinking, if we wanted to buy a ton of cans we could do so.  They were supposedly concerned with the way people were dropping the kegs into bath tubs, because they kept having to replace the cracked tubs.

We still got them in after that and DPS would end up confiscating them and dumping the beer into the sewer in Structure #1, then we'd come by the next day and take the keg in to get our deposit back.  In fact DPS used to take your name down specifically for that reason.

They reworded the lease. It now says "no large containers  of alcohol" or something of that nature. We asked the person at our lease signing if a quarter barrell was excessive. She kinda brushed the question. I think there are loop holes in the wording of the lease...

One every weekend.  Get a Rent-A-Center box.
