The Man in Gold

Storming the Floor places Marquette in its Big East Bruisers Category (Upper Echelon)

Marquette Golden Eagles: My first question about Marquette wasn't about how they would transition from Tom Crean to new guy Buzz Williams. Nope. What I want to know: How in the hell are Dominic James, Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews still in school? Doesn't it seem like they were on the same team as D-Wade like seven years ago? Are they in the program that Tommy Callahan took for six years at Marquette? Whatever the case, the guard trio is back for another go-around following a heartbreaking last-second defeat to Stanford last March. With the exact same cast of characters back in Milwaukee (6 of the top 7 scorers return), the exact same problem is going to haunt the Golden Eagles if they fail to make a major impact in March; lack of an interior presence (one player taller than 6'8, Dwight Burke, and he kinda sucks). The guards will continue to do most of the heavy lifting on offense and defense, but without a proven presence in the middle, the Sweet 16 could be just out of reach once again.

Plus they provide this gem in their BE preview Part 1.
