I was at the U of Miami football game today and happened to run into Jack Mclinton and co. and was lubed up enough to ask about Mbakwe.  A few of them indicated they knew he was at Miami Dade and Mclinton said he "heard" that Mbakwe was supposed to be transferring to UM next year.  I dont know if this adds any useful information or if the transfer to UM was confirmed but this adds to the evidence.

Good luck to him, but I don't understand how he could leave the Big East and a Top 15 team to go to a bottom feeder in the ACC. Had he left to go home to Minnesota, that's understandable. Miami? Please. Oh, well, he's somebody's else's problem now.

That's just not true. Miami has constantly improved since Frank Haith took over the program. They should be a very good ACC team this season.

Regardless, Mbakwe screwed him coaches and teammates over with his Art Modell-esque actions. Good luck to him whatever he ends up doing.

Dude - have you ever been to the University of Miami?

Mbakwe is an outstanding prospect-----is the quickest big I've seen in a long time. Not only quick moves, but strong, athletic, and very quick jumping to the glass. Needs to learn court saavy and some inside moves------don't know if he'll learn that at Miami. Has only 2 years there and the first year is usually a waste for JUCO's.

I know Miami is beautiful, and that academics for their athletes (football players, especially) is not exactly Priority No. 1, but even if Miami improves dramntically in basketball their chance of ever challenging NC or Duke is nil. When was the last time a Miami b-ball game was shown nationally?

Hey Murf, do you ever say anything positive about anything when it's a part of MU? All of a sudden you're a big Mbakwe fan. Is Bennie Seltzer the greatest assisstant in college basketball now, too.
Q: What's the difference between Bo Ryan and God?
A: God doesn't think he's Bo Ryan!!

Granted Miami is not a national powerhouse, but Miami had a solid season last year - 3 pts away from sweet 16. Miami sunshine and attractions are pretty enticing for a Minnesota kid.

Murf has always said that Mbakwe was one of the quickest bigs he seen in a while.

5years at MU is correct----last feb/March as I was saying it was asinine to count on Mbakwe playing a role in the rotation because he missed 3/4 of the season-----I was also saying that he was the "quickest leaper" I've ever seen and one of the quickest bigs off the move I've ever seen.

Outside of missing all that practice time last year what he needs is to develop much better court saavy and has to develop some finesse with the ball down low----he played out of control last year.

The Lens

He's F'd in the head and just another TC project that didn't work out.  So, so glad to have Old Buzzard at the wheel now.  A lot less fly-by-night jobs.  MU is in such a better place b/c TC left.  Sure TC raised it to a level but TC's own ego / incompetence, kept it at that level.
