Title: 2009 Recruits
Post by: MU Chi_IL on May 07, 2008, 10:03:25 AM
I had some time this morning and took a look at a few of the potential 2009 recruits that have been mentioned in the past week or so.  I really only looked at Scout (so take this all with a grain of salt since rankings are somewhat meaningless), but when you compare who we are rumored with in the 2009 class to 2005 class, what I think is Crean's best class in 9 years, I think we are in ok shape.  I did not include Wilson in here because if we land him that really changes everything.

Question for the Wisconsin folks, is Wilson good enough to be one and done (two and done?) or is he a three, maybe outside chance at a four year player?

tough to say for certain, but hes certainly got the potential to be a 1 or 2 and done player

If he's a one and done, wouldn't that increase the likelihood he comes to MU next year?  Next year's team is a good one for a one and done type of recruit.

Wilson would not be on next years team, he is a 2009 recruit.

Although i remain commited to staying within the state for 2009, if i was to go outside of the state for any of these players it would definitely be  Tommy Mason-Griffin. Obviously we are offering a starting job for an elite Point Guard which should be enticing to a recruit. To add on isn't Houston (his hometown) where Buzz has all of his connections?

Question MU Chi_IL where are you hearing these rumors from?

All I did was gather names that have been toss around on the board.  I figured since I was looking at the info, others might find it interesting as well so I put it out there.

I just dont see Wilson one or two and done, my guess is a 3 or 4 year deal depending on what the NBA does with eligibility. He may go early the question is will he have the body and skills when he wants to go.

Get these guys:

#44 SF 4 star      Erik Williams
#72 PF 4 star      Jeronne Maymon
#91 PG 4 star    Johnnie Lacy

and the rankings, stars, and positions look pretty (eerily) similar to these rankings:

#43 PG 4 star D James
#54 SF 4 Star J McNeal
#94 SG 4 Star W. Matthews

Insert Donte Hill for Jeronne Maymon and I think you have your recruiting class. We have a good chance at Maymon though. In regards to your comparrison though it would be a much different team with the same look: johnnie lacy actually shoots threes and Erik Williams would be the focal point of the offense
