Out this morning
Marquette starts out at 76, 78 and 71 on offense and defense respectively. Projected 9-11 in conference. 11-9 probably gets them dancing barring non-con shenanigans.
Big East as 5th best league with Nova the highest team at 20, Creighton at 22, UConn 27, all projected 13-7 in league. Butler last behind Georgetown.

Texas at 2

9-11, get the AL ready for the NIT
-
12th rated Catholic school. ND, LUC and Saint Louis ahead.
-
Not sure if this was posted .. MU picked for 9th in the BE, bound for the NIT.

Computers love teams that go big in the portal. Marquette is tough for the computers to predict as they’re leaning on a few guys who haven’t performed in large roles before. Not really surprising where we’re ranked given the question marks.

Yup. Not a lot of data points for the current roster. I believe they improved 30 spots last year from where they started. I think that would be a very good result here as well.
Just an early glance reinforces the idea this league is pretty muddled entering the season. There is definitely an opportunity to exceed expectations. Yes, also fall short, too

Source of discussion. Means nothing at this point. Win enough and it takes care of itself. Lose too much and it takes care of itself.

Why are you trying to be rational on Scoop?

Guess we lost yesterday.

My concerns a few months ago haven't changed much. It's the rebounding and interior that's a big question mark. I think we have a lot of capable perimeter players but do we have enough to hold our own inside?

Shaka’s teams have never been great at rebounding. Probably time for people to expect that

Last year was still an outlier. I think expecting his teams to be in the 150-250 range is more of a fair year over year expectation.
As far as the kenpom ranking, nothing in the 60-80 range would've been surprising. We're relying on secondary options and unsung newcomers. We were never going to be a computer darling to start the year.

Mopidity, mope, mope…
A) does it matter in a scrimmage (unless you buy into the seeding theory of losing a scrimmage)
b) thought you had info on the scrimmage

We lost 3 seeds

And 17 spots in KenPom.

SI has UNC as their preseason #1. Most of the team that was an 8 seed last year.

How can they be better? Players don’t improve. Quite the scoopnundrum

Providence fans, led by Kevin McNamara, are more than a little irate that kenpom...I don't know...exists? Completely showing that they don't understand concepts like math on Twitter. Guess that's the difference between a college and a university.

Returning 4 starters from last year's team.
-
AP preseason poll out today:
UNC is 1, Gonzaga 2.
Others of note:
7. Fightin' Scheyers
9. Creighton
12. Shaka's previous team
16. Wright's leftovers
UConn second in others receiving votes.
Nary a vote for Marquette or Madison.

Not sure what to expect from this team. There are a few really good pieces that should get us in the tournament. However, there has been very little said about what we have.
I’m hoping we are the surprise of the year by February!

The Scoop-reviled Flyers are top 25? Oy vey!

Returned everybody from a team that just missed the tourney last season, I believe.
