Title: EGB's

EGB's. (Energy Generating Behaviors)

I absolutely love this. For a team that's built on depth and doing the little things to get a leg up on the opponent, I love everything about this.

Maybe it'll be a complete flop, but I'd love to have this thread roll all season with EGBs that we notice that don't show up in the Box Score but change the game in a big way.

I have to imagine the guy in the picture might lead the way in EGB's!

This picture reminded me of Bobby Knight.
Is throwing a chair onto the floor and EGB?

"Give him an EGB for that!"

Didn't know Jop had that in him!

He’s the most dynamic scorer on the squad. This is a big year for him.

If his defense and decision making have caught up to his shooting, he could be a difference maker.

He has all the tools to be a great, not good, great player.

I don't want to misphrase any quotes, but was Shaka's biggest issue with Jop last year that he just couldn't get to where he needed to be conditioning-wise?

It wasn't effort, or skill, it was just that he couldn't find his conditioning for D1 basketball.

If he is well-conditioned and playing springy like that he could be a complete difference maker.

I'm 100% on board with EGB's and a running tally all season.

I have heard nothing but great things on how Joplin looks this preseason. I am expecting big things from him this season.

I heard he is looking great across the board and heard it from someone I trust and who is close to the program.

Great to hear, Goose.

And that's an example of what a number of us have been talking about. We don't know which of these players will improve by miles from last season -- the way Lewis did this past season or the way Sam did between his frosh and soph years.

I mean, what if, say, 4 out of Joplin, O-Max, Kolek, Stevie, Kam and Oso are not just role guys but good college basketball players? All operating in a system they now know, having spent an entire offseason together. Add in Sean, Gold and Wrightsil with their unique skill-sets. I'm looking forward to seeing what we've got, seeing how Shaka coaches 'em.

As I sit here on Sept. 27, I see every reason to be optimistic.

Shouldn't we be having an intrasquad game soon?

Joplin is an intriguing player if he learns how to defend.  I think he's a very capable scorer, not just a spot shooter.  I would say if O-Max, ZW, and Joplin can all make substantial contributions we could absolutely surprise people. We may be able to field a line-up at times with 5 guys that can handle the rock and make things happen.  Having a quintet without a ball-stopper could bode well for us.  Assuming we can defend and hold our own on the glass.

Gold is a name to throw in that category too.  He is on of those guys that remind you just how big 6'10"/6'11" is and he can stretch the floor. Should be an incredible addition.

He can pick and pop?  From distance?

Obviously this would help us quite a bit. I'm a little cautious with the development of young bigs but maybe we have additional feathers in our caps.

Check out the YouTube video I just posted in the Team Outlook thread...I think we might get more out of our bigs than we originally anticipated.

Itejere is going to be a nice body to have play above the rim and defend. Wrightsil looks powerful.

I'm really intrigued by what Itejere can become. Got there early at Butler last year and watched him closely. Freakishly smooth and athletic for his height. Body mass is an issue, but length helps compensate for that. It may not be this year, but assuming he is a hard worker I like his potential.

Joplin is a bucket filler.  If he can stay on the floor I think he might end up being our highest scorer.

Stevie and Ross. That's what I've got today.

Shaka said postgame that Stevie brings an attitude and emotion that this team needs and it showed.
