yes we all know...he was convicted in federal court, will probably spend a good portion of the rest of his life in prison, pay hefty fines and faces probably hundreds of malpractice lawsuits. so he will be paying a very hefty penalty for these bad decisions. his life is essentially ruined and he has no one to blame but himself

Dentist Jason White gets maximum prison sentence for producing child pornography

The charges against White, a once-prominent Lubbock dentist, stem from a Lubbock police and FBI investigation into outcries from three teenagers who said White abused them.
However, after White's initial arrest, investigators uncovered a decades-long history of sexual abuse of teenage boys that began in 1998 when he was 19 years old and continued as he built his career and his business during which he used his wealth, reputation and connections to manipulate and trick youths to sexually abuse them.

Good friend of mine, now retired, got called to the ER to use the ring cutters we carry on our apparatus to cut off a c&%$ ring. Legend has it he blew some of the metallic dust off of it to get a better look about half way through the cut. There are further embellishments, obviously, but at his retirement party he finally admitted that the blowing away the dust story was accurate.

I'm opposed to requiring licenses just to be a dentist. People should be able to attend any dentistry convention (I hear the one's in Fond du Lac are extremely prestigious) and obtain a dentistry license, no background check, no safety course, and no proof that your drills as stored securely required.
It's in one of the amendments to the Constitution after all.

Clearly the dentists commuting criminal acts is out of control and we need to get them out of society permanently. We need to throw away the key so they can’t get back out into society. I may not understand the problem, I may not know the actual stats, but I do know a seriously problem when I see it. I’ve learned all I need to know from this thread. We have a serious out of control dental problem that has to be addressed now! For the love of God, now!

First, I do not understand the questioning of MKE as my city. I was born and raised, until, fourth grade, on 48th and Wisconsin, our family business was on 25th and St. Paul, my office is on Milwaukee and Wisconsin and my three sons all live in MKE. So, I do consider it my city and if asked where I am from I say MKE.
As for what I am doing, I have kept my office in downtown, have supported the local businesses, my wife (a liberal) tutored in the inner city for several years prior to the pandemic, we donate food and clothes to several inner city organizations on a regular basis, support St. Marcus, try to be a good citizen to the homeless I encounter and generally try to be a good person.
I, like many, have no clue on how to stop the violence or what I could do to help. If you had an organization that you could recommend on how to fix the problem I would love to hear about it.
Lastly, on a daily basis I try to do something good for people and show respect to everyone I encounter. I am far from a perfect person and have many flaws, but lacking kindness and empathy for others is not one of my weaknesses.

WETHERSFIELD — A dentist from Branford who police say fatally shot a 21-year-old with whom he had a relationship was lying in wait for her, a police official said Tuesday.
Dr. Michael Mollow, 59, shot Caroline Anne Ashworth multiple times about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after she pulled into a condominium complex on Mountain Laurel Drive, police said. He then turned the gun on himself.
“It sounds like they were broken up, she was driving his vehicle,” Chief Rafael Medina said. “We believe that she was meeting another person. He was lying in wait.”
The new detail comes after a weekend that included a second shocking murder-suicide that police said also involved a professional pulling the trigger — a police sergeant.
About 20 hours after Ashworth’s and Mollow’s deaths, Avon police Sgt. Thomas “T.J.” Jacius fatally shot his wife, Doreen Jacius, in their East Granby home, police said. He, too, then took his own life.
Doreen Jacius was East Granby’s well-liked library director. The library is closed while townspeople mourn their loss. A vigil was held Monday evening in her honor.
The library’s staff and board of directors released a statement saying they are “shocked and devastated by the sudden loss.” Doreen Jacius was “beloved by us and the community,” they said.
Thomas Jacius had worked at the Avon Police Department nearly 24 years.
Caroline Ashford is originally from Houston, but has recently lived with Mollow on West Haycock Point Road in Branford, public records show. Mollow and his wife were divorced in 2021; he worked at North Branford Dental Group.
Medina said it appears the two have had trouble in their relationship lately. There is nothing illegal about their relationship despite the age difference of 38 years, he said, and “I don’t judge anyone.”

BURLINGTON — Patrick Keese-Rath had neglected going to the dentist for years. But when he felt a molar break, he knew he could not put it off any longer.
At a friend’s suggestion, he walked into the offices of Dr. J. Charles Mesec, a dentist who has been treating patients in Burlington for more than 30 years.
What transpired next has led to a malpractice lawsuit with thousands of dollars at stake, based on allegations that Mesec bungled Keese-Rath’s treatment involving 14 different teeth.
State records show that Mesec had twice been reprimanded previously by the state licensing board, including an incident of botched patient care and an instance when Mesec was found practicing without a license.
Keese-Rath, 35, of Burlington, said he was surprised to learn of the dentist’s track record, after seeking out another provider to undo the mistakes that he believes Mesec made on his teeth.
Mesec, the proprietor of Burlington Family & Laser Dentistry, 240 N. Main St., could not be reached for comment.
Mesec and his co-defendant insurance companies are denying the allegations in the malpractice suit, which Keese-Rath filed this summer seeking at least $15,000 in damages.
The defendants have asserted in court that Keese-Rath himself might have been negligent, might have failed to mitigate his damages and might have assumed the risk involved in dental care.
The dispute is pending in Racine County Circuit Court with no trial date scheduled yet.
According to the suit, Keese-Rath went to Burlington Family & Laser Dentistry in 2018 and 2019 and received treatment from Mesec. The suit lists 14 different teeth where Keese-Rath had cavities or other issues requiring crowns or other treatment.
The suit alleges that Mesec was “negligent and careless” and that his work “fell below the standard of care of reasonable dentists.” Keese-Rath suffered painful and permanent injuries, as well as mental pain and anguish, the suit states.
Another dentist later told Keese-Rath that all of Mesec’s previous work needed to be “redone, reworked or otherwise fixed,” according to the suit. The cost of the resulting repairs was reported to exceed $15,000.
Before deciding to take the matter to court, Keese-Rath said in an interview, he approached Burlington Family & Laser Dentistry and asked for a full refund plus the cost of repair treatment by his new dentist.
Keese-Rath said he had paid Mesec’s business about $700 a month for at least two years, and that his total loss easily exceeded $20,000. Mesec initially seemed interested in settling the matter, Keese-Rath said, but then the dentist stopped communicating.
“He’s making me do this,” Keese-Rath said of the legal action.

Listed as co-defendants are Burlington Family & Laser Dentistry, Cincinnati Insurance Co. and another unidentified insurance company. The suit seeks a finding of negligence and unspecified damages beyond the patient’s out-of-pocket costs.
Mesec, 64, has been treating patients in Burlington since approximately the mid-1980s.
Keese-Rath said he also approached the Wisconsin Dentistry Examining Board and discovered that the state licensing agency had twice previously reprimanded Mesec.
State records show that the board in 2011 found that Mesec had botched a patient’s treatment with faulty installation of a crown on a damaged tooth. Mesec’s license was limited for 90 days, and he was ordered to get new educational training.
In 2020, Mesec was reprimanded again after the state found that his license had expired and that he practiced dentistry without a license in October and November of 2019. Records show the licensing board determined that Mesec had “engaged in unprofessional conduct.”
Keese-Rath said his new dentist has done good work fixing Mesec’s mistakes and has tried to help resolve the issues stemming from Burlington Family & Laser Dentistry. Keese-Rath said he initially thought all dentists received the same training and all provided essentially the same level of care. Now, he said, “I’ve come to a realization that there is a difference.”

A dentist who practiced in Renton until his license was indefinitely suspended by the Washington State Dental Commission, was indicted federally for four counts of distributing a controlled substance, announced U.S. Attorney Nick Brown.
Luke Edward St. Marie, 34, appeared in federal court today and entered pleas of “not guilty.” The federal indictment lists four instances between January 2018 and July 2018, when prescriptions for oxycodone and hydrocodone were allegedly issued under his credential outside the scope of professional practice with no legitimate medical purpose. Trial on the charges is scheduled in front of U.S. District Judge Lauren King on November 21, 2022.
When the state suspended St. Marie’s license indefinitely in April 2021, it concluded St. Marie, “wrote prescriptions outside of a provider-patient relationship, didn’t adequately document prescriptions, rewrote an altered prescription, didn’t report that his prescription pad may have been compromised, and didn’t take adequate steps to ensure all prescriptions issued under his authority were valid.” The dental commission referred the matter to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for criminal investigation.
In court today, prosecutors noted that the four counts in the indictment comprise just a fraction of the illegal distribution. The investigation revealed that seventy-five prescriptions were improperly written, many in the names of St. Marie’s then-girlfriend, her family, and friends. Sadly, the former girlfriend overdosed at St. Marie’s home, and died days later in the hospital.

Parents of children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School had sued him and his media company for defamation after he repeatedly claimed the 2012 massacre in Connecticut was a hoax. Fans of the Infowars host had harassed and threatened grieving families. By the summer of 2020, two of the lawsuits weren’t going his way.
As the potential for damages mounted, Jones began moving millions of dollars out of his company, Free Speech Systems, and into companies controlled by himself, friends or relatives, according to a Washington Post review of financial statements, depositions and other court records. The transfers potentially put those funds out of reach of the Sandy Hook plaintiffs.
Between August 2020 and November 2021, Free Speech Systems signed promissory notes — essentially IOUs — for $55 million to cover what it said were past debts to a company called PQPR Holdings that Jones owns with his parents, according to financial records filed in court by Jones’s attorneys. PQPR, which is managed by Jones’s father, a dentist, had bought tens of millions of dollars in supplements for Jones that he then sold on his show, the records say. A lawyer for Free Speech systems has said in court that the debt accrued unnoticed due to sloppy bookkeeping.
This year, Jones started paying his personal trainer $100,000 a week to help ship supplements and other merchandise, a Free Speech Systems attorney said in court. A company managed by Jones’s sister and listed as a “supplier or vendor” was paid $240,000, financial records show.
Courts have awarded the Sandy Hook families nearly $1.5 billion in damages against Jones, including $45.2 million in a Texas case in August and $965 million in a Connecticut case two months later. On Nov. 10, the judge in the Connecticut case ordered Jones to pay an additional $473 million in punitive damages, including $323 million for legal fees. Jones has said on his show that he plans to appeal.
The IOUs and other recent transactions helped tip Free Speech Systems into bankruptcy in July, according to Jones’s court filings. An accountant hired by Jones calculated that Free Speech Systems had $79 million in liabilities at the end of May and only $14 million in assets, court records show. As a result, the Sandy Hook families could be left vying with other creditors — including the companies tied to Jones himself — to collect.

A Collier County dentist has been arrested and is facing hundreds of child pornography charges following an investigation by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say Stephen Layton, 68, is facing 100 counts of possession of child pornography and 100 counts of transmission of child pornography.
Collier County detectives got a search warrant for the Dropbox account and found more than 1,000 sexually explicit files featuring children as young as 5.
Their investigation revealed that the images were sent from Layton’s home and dental practice.

Rudolph has claimed throughout the case that his wife’s death in the southern African nation of Zambia was an accident. His lawyer, David Oscar Markus, said he and fellow defense lawyer, Margot Moss, were hopeful they would win an appeal.
“And we’ll be back to get a fair trial and then Larry can walk out of here a free man," Markus said.
Prosecutors say Rudolph, who owned a Pittsburgh-area dental franchise, shot his wife of 34 years in the heart with a shotgun on her last morning in Zambia, and then put the gun in its soft case to make it look like she had accidentally shot herself while packing. The couple had been hunting game during their trip.
They also claim the setting, about 80 miles (129 kilometers) from the nearest police station, was the perfect place to try to get away with the crime, where they say he rushed to have his wife cremated and intimidated officials investigating her death.
They allege the goal was to live a lavish retirement with his longtime girlfriend, Lori Milliron, with the help of the insurance money. Milliron was sentenced to 17 years in prison (https://apnews.com/article/dentist-safari-killer-girlfriend-5966246946bfda9b10981a7afcf4dc28) in June after being convicted of being an accessory. She has filed an appeal.
The penalties for Rudolph include a combination of restitution, fines and property forfeiture. Rudolph also got a 20-year prison term to be served at the same time as his life sentence for his mail fraud conviction. Martinez ordered Rudolph serve his sentence at a prison with health care facilities because of his unspecified heart problems.
With a life sentence required under federal sentencing rules, Monday's hearing focused mostly on the the financial penalties facing Rudolph, with pages after pages of financial charts tracking the movement of the insurance payouts discussed. Some was used to build two homes, one in Arizona and another in Pennsylvania, as well as for two luxury cars, an Aston Martin DB-11 and a Bentley Bentayga.
Martinez ordered Rudolph pay $4.9 million in restitution to the insurance companies and a $2 million fine. He also approved the forfeiture of the homes and cars as well other assets linked to the insurance proceeds, which the defense says totaled over $9 million. The government did not provide an estimate of their worth.
In a case where prosecutors argued that Bianca Rudolph's murder was a “culmination of a lifetime spent seeking domination and control over others through wealth and power,” prosecutors had urged Martinez to impose a $10 million fine against Rudolph.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Fields argued the steep penalty was necessary to ensure he does not have the ability to seek revenge — whether through frivolous lawsuits or hiring hit men — from behind bars.
But Rudolph's lawyers argued a fine that high would deny Rudolph's two adult children, Julian and AnaBianca Rudolph, money they would inherit from their late mother's estate. They also said Larry Rudolph, who estimated he was worth $27 million when he was arrested in 2021, was now only worth about $3 million. They said he did not have enough money to also pay a fine on top of the resititution to the insurance companies.
Martinez said he was persuaded by a letter from Julian Rudolph that a $10 million fine would further punish him and his sister.
The children have so far opted not to speak much publicly about the death, although AnaBianca Rudolph testified against Milliron, her father's longtime girlfriend, at her sentencing. They did not appear at their father's sentencing hearing.
Investigators in Zambia and for the insurers concluded Bianca Rudolph's death was an accident. The insurance companies, some based in Colorado, then paid out the life insurance, according to the defense in court documents.
Larry Rudolph was arrested nearly five years after her death following an FBI investigation that sent agents traveling around the world to collect evidence and interview witnesses.
Prosecutors allege Rudolph built his wealth on fraud. In a document laying out the facts of the case, which is disputed by the defense, they say he shot off his thumb during a previous visit to Zambia to collect millions in disability insurance money; they also allege he cheated his dental patients, creating the need for root canals by not doing fillings or drilling holes in their teeth while they were asleep.
“Today points out that no matter how wealthy you are, no matter how prestigious you are, no matter how well connected you are, the long arm of the law will find you and justice will arrive for you,” Cole Finegan, the U.S. Attorney for Colorado, said after the sentencing.

According to a criminal complaint obtained from the Glendale Police Department, 36-year-old Sarah Kasprzak submitted 22 false invoices to customers between February and August 2023, embezzling $52,230 from the company where she worked, Heartland Dental, LLC, which provides operational and employment support to dentists.
Kasprzak was charged with theft in a business setting and money laundering an amount between $10,000 and $100,000, felonies which each come with a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment for a maximum of 10 years.
Kasprzak is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing on Feb. 21.

Robert Philip Hanssen (April 18, 1944 – June 5, 2023) was an American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent who spied for Soviet and Russian intelligence services against the United States from 1979 to 2001. His espionage was described by the Department of Justice as "possibly the worst intelligence disaster in U.S. history".[2]
Hanssen applied for a cryptography job at the National Security Agency following his college graduation but was turned down due to budget setbacks. He enrolled in dental school at Northwestern University,[14] but he switched his focus to business after three years.
Guess three years is enough to corrupt.
