The team played like a bunch of guys at the rec center. They were chucking the ball every time they came down the court, provided they didn't turn it over.
I watched a lot of Big East basketball over the years, and I would say our team did a great imitation of DePaul type basketball today.

It’s simple. We have decided for some stupid reason to have our “paint touch” run through Theo instead of Dawson. No idea why.
I mean why give it to a McD AA when you can give it to a guy with such limited offensive ability instead?
It’s a mystery.

I can’t stomach to watch the game again but I can’t remember one time DG got the ball in the low post or even at the elbow. He was the designated screener at the top of the key tonight it seemed.

It happened because our “offense” typically consists of this:
1) Carton walks the ball up the floor
We get into our “offense” with about 22 seconds left in the shot clock
2) Theo sets a ball screen which accomplishes absolutely nothing. DJ dribbles back to the top of the key. There is now about 15 seconds left in the shot clock. Nobody is moving. No cuts. No screens. No passing. No ball movement.
The other team is able to rest on defense, because there is no passing or ball movement and none of our guys are moving
DJ now passes to someone, anyone out on the wing. Now about 8 seconds left in the shot clock. Nobody is moving. Couple dribbles and a forced shot by someone at the end of the shot clock
If Dawson happens to be the guy with the ball in his hands at the end of the shot clock, he gets a shot. Otherwise, he gets no shot as there are no plays ever called for our McDonalds All-American

Meanwhile, it sounds like we played our worst game of the year....and that's saying something. It's incredibly frustrating that our teams the past 4/5 years have not gotten better come Feb/March. But the biggest thing that sticks out to me is that at one point we had 15 turns in like 22 mins. There's just no way to sugarcoat this prob and we see it constantly. Drives me absolutely nuts... and they are sloppy and careless.

Sew, wee know offense after nearly 7 years? But, ther's still tyme. Wright didn't win until his 24th yeer at Villanova. Just gotta bea moore patient. This season wheel focus on other issues, hey?

Our bigs ... of Lewis, Garcia and Theo were 6 for 22... DePaul seemed to want it more and athletically they were more aggressive. Several shots were blocked and Garcia wasn’t looking for his shot or was out of position for his shot..
Greg and Jamal were ok but they don’t create their own shot.
Symir isn’t a shooter yet, Koby and carton were the only guys that can create today and they played well in spurts. We need more from them and the bigs.
It was not a great game.. next.

That is the trade off of posting here. Freedom of speech is allowed and people frequently attack each other.
On Mr. Dodds site, he does not allow posters to attack each other ( or if they do he won't tolerate it for very long) However, Dodds also restricts speech. That is why all the best post on Dodds site are the off topic ones where there is a little more freedom of speech versus the MU posts which must adhere to the company line .

Folks do get a bit hostile here on occasion. That's generally OK, we're all passionate about MU hoops. Much like the country, some here like to sperate folks into one camp or the other. But much like reality, we've got hundreds of little camps, all with their own mind. Disagreement is allowed. We don't appreciate attacks against one another, but we kinda learn who can take it and who can't. We don't like to moderate.

I appreciate that Rocky. Occasionally I can be in attack mode and somewhat relentless. But I don't personally attack anyone unless I am forced to defend myself.

I should mention as a PSA - There can be lot of post volume here. The "report to moderator" button is pretty much an anonymous hotline - we can't look at everything. We don't care who clicks, or how many we have to look at, we'll take a look when we have time and deal with it then. It doesn't necessarily mean the "reporter" gets their way.

As I said, he and I have argued many times. But when he is in 'good" Fluff mode, he has some very astute opinions.
My opinion is that it is mostly on Garcia, but the players and coaches bear some responsibility.
