Title: Biggest "no fans" Disappointment of 2020/21
Post by: MU gimp ONE on November 25, 2020, 11:16:14 AM
I personally think that the TBT Champion - Golden Eagles Alumni should have been honored at one of the home games this year.  Disappointed we potentially won't get to find out.

However, I will not be disappointed to save $50 a game for 3 beers.

Having to wait a year for "0" to go up in the rafters.  Don't know if there is normally a grace period after the player leaves, but I highly doubt that they'll do it without any fans in the building.

Problem is that most of those guys are all over the place playing professionally during the season.

Yeah they'll wait a couple years on that I think.

Thought about that, but there are still a few trying in the G-League and Travis/Joe are around with the trophy.  Could've done video board messages from the guys overseas.  Just would have been a nice tribute to the guys that represented our university so well and also brought home a championship on ESPN

Problem is that most of those guys are all over the place playing professionally during the season.

The Fiserv getting to its loudest point when they show the Jump Around guy.

Introducing the "greatest student section in the country."

The booing of Wojo when he is introduced.

I haven't heard anything about retiring his jersey.

No. But they will.

Why retire his number? McNeal held the scoring record for years and nobody discussed his number being retired. Howard was a great scorer who had very little team success. Keep in mind I don’t think Rivers should be retired either.

This is the one factor that should make it an 'automatic' jersey retirement. We only have a small handful of consensus First Teamers: Chones, Meminger, Lee, Wade and now Howard.

I still find it disappointing that we never retired Chones' jersey. While I suspect it's due to his mid-season departure, the circumstances were pretty unique...especially the part where Al told him to go.

Not my biggest disappointment, but the hype videos are something I'll miss.

Biggest disappointment is just not seeing it live. I know everyone gives the fans and students crap, but teh FF gets loud as hell and is definitely an amazing atmosphere to watch a game.

Disappointed that we can't argue whether booing Wojo hurts recruiting or how lame the student section is.

I predict that this year the student section will be empirically worse than any previous years.

However, they will be better behaved.

I would say witnessing Joe True's spectacular talent of addressing hundreds of Blue and Gold donors by name as they leave the arena, but unfortunately, he's no longer with MU.

One of the best. I didn't have much interaction with him, but the personal attention to detail was impressive. After losing my mom to pancreatic cancer, he reached out and sent the MU WLAX pancan awareness socks to me. Small thing, but really big impact. He'll be missed.

i’ll assume you didn’t  see Doc play. Heck, beating ND at the buzzer is jersey-retirement worthy.

I'd wait until his NBA career is over. So the 2021-22 season.

Why?  Wade's was up before he retired.

Also, I'd bet on Markus being on an NBA roster at some point beyond 2022.

we rushed to cash in on Wade winning the NBA title and set aside the graduation requirement to do it.

Yeah. And even if it wasn’t fine, Markus graduated. So I don’t know what the problem is.
