The non-public scrimmage is the first of the Annual Tom Crean Classic.

I think that MU played St Norberts somewhat regularly in the 50's.

As long as the MU social media team has their fluff posts ready to roll with the team doing community service in order to justify their chartering flights to get their asses handed to them in Bloomington we should be all good.

MU's overall record against St. Norbert is 8-2.

Marquette played all of its games against the Green Knights between the 1950-51 and 1960-61 seasons, which spanned four MU coaches: Bill Chandler, Tex Winter, Jack Nagle and Eddie Hickey.

MU lost the first game played between the schools 53-41 in Chandler's last year as head coach. Marquette went on to win the next six games during Winter's and Nagle's years as head basketball coach.

However, the Warriors were edged by the Green Knights 49-47 in Nagle's last year.

MU won the last two games of the series in Eddie Hickey's first two seasons - 82-74 and 98-64.

According to the MU Media Guide, the teams have not played since that game Jan. 6, 1960.

All of the games were played in Milwaukee.

Go Warriors!

Go Warriors!

MU's overall record against St. Norbert is 8-2.

I believe the last time the team's played was in 1960.

Go Warriors!

Somehow being 8-2 is depressing against st Norbert

Isn't it Tommy? Or is this just part of the Scoop first name mis-spelling meme?

And while I like rewarding the walk-ons (who have to do all the practice and get no financial benefits) - does giving him a scholly mean we've limited ourselves in the mid-season transfer market?

They still have an open scholarship

Others have pointed out that it is rare to get more than 2 years from walk-ons.  A very difficult role.

Yeah.

But it also means that St. Norbert >> UW-Milwaukee. That kinda makes me smile.

St. Norbert is a pretty good DIII basketball program. In their final 16 games of last season, the Green Knights went 13-3 and topped 90 points six times. Shot 36.8% from beyond the arc as a team and out-rebounded opponents by 5 boards a game.

They bring back their entire roster from a year ago -- including 6-3 senior guard and leading scorer Joe Ciriaks (14.8 ppg, 41.9 3PT%) from East Troy and 6-6 senior forward Connor Curtis (14.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg) from Green Bay. Joe Lemon (8.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg), a 6-5 forward from Menomonee Falls, is the team's third returning senior starter. Five other players appeared in at least 20 games and averaged 17+ minutes.

Not saying it's going to be a competitive matchup. But St. Norbert could be a better exhibition opponent than you might think.

St. Norbert is a pretty good DIII basketball program.

Due, almost entirely, to stellar fund raising for good ol' St Norbert's

My college decision came down to St. Norberts vs MU. MU was the favorite but SNC threw a bunch more money at me...might have even walked out of there debt free. Still couldn't say no to MU though. No regrets.

Also got into UW-Madison but decided against that early on.
