Hard to argue that NC State wasn't snubbed, particularly if you consider it was them vs. SJU for the last spot.
https://sports.yahoo.com/nc-state-ncaa-tournament-committee-snub-debbie-yow-net-003509081.html
Pretty much the only thing SJU has going in its favor is that they beat us twice. Seems that and our seed suggest committee was higher on us than we thought.

353rd strength of schedule non conf. Those are Bo Ryan level cupcakes.
-
NC State non-conference strength of schedule ranked dead last at 353. Q-1 record of 3-9.
St. John's had 5 Q1 wins. I think it's pretty easy to see NC State was left out. Want a bid, win more Q1 games.
-
They scored 24 points in a game. That equals like 4 Q4 losses.

Didn't ralize it was that bad- but wasn't SJU's pretty terrible to? Like.upper 200s?
Anyway those two teams show humans still in change of the computers!
-
Bernard Muir pointed out that schools that had lots of chances at quality wins and end up with an imbalance of wins and losses faired poorly.
-
If you couldn't make your case this season......you didn't get snubbed.
SJ was fortunate to get in......that doesn't mean that NCAA state got snubbed......he'll they weren't even next in line.
Greensboro lost the last spot when Oregon won......when you are at the end of the line that's what can happen.
-
Nobody was effen snubbed this year.
Win another game or two.
So tired of these lame-arse whiners.
Win some games.

So where the hell was our AD complaining about that BET semi-final and how we got "snubbed"? Probably hiding in his safe space. There I answered my own question.

I might be missing something but what does any of this mean?
-
We also beat them by 32 when they had a chance to lock up a guaranteed bid.

Yeah St. John's was 327 (according to kenpom) their non-con was pathetic!

The NC State AD went public and and made case a why she felt her team was treated unfairly so why no complaint from our AD to the Big East about that debacle of a game.

Because we're dancing. I'm sure the Marquette athletic department going public about getting screwed by the refs in a BET semifinal game would really bode well for favorable whistles come Thursday.

the NC State AD accomplished nothing outside of looking whiny and foolish. I'll take someone that affects change in the background vs making a useless public spectacle of themselves and our university.

probably because there is a difference between trying to actually get something accomplished using the proper channels...and risking any chance of getting anything accomplished just to please a few dumb fans that don't realize any better and feel good about and AD blabbing to the media.

Are you sure about that? Show me the evidence.

What evidence would satisfy you? Did NC state get invited to the tourney after their administration complained?

I'd be embarrassed if our AD did this. It's the whole "everyone else was more qualified but you should have given me the job because I deserve it" position. Never a good look.
-
The NCSU AD sounded like a whiner. She will not help her school or others like it.
Win another game or two. That's how you "affect your situation."
I am thrilled that our AD didn't publicly complain about the officiating. Make a few more FTs, we win. I don't want a whiner AD.

You are really not smart.

Bottom line, the Committee this year for sure and likely in upcoming years is looking for both a high SoS and a quality performance against that SoS, especially non-con. Want to be dancing, don't schedule more than one 300+ KenPom team and play at least 5 sub-150 KenPom teams in non-conference plan.

Probably a good idea to beat some of those teams too. Otherwise you have to make a viral tweet to bypass the selection committee and gain the super secret auto-bid.

How about the BE closing off the officials media availability while they were giving MU an explanation on their calling of the game? Probably don't do that unless the MU administration is giving them hell. And in doing that the BE admitted everything MU already know...they got screwed and the BE knew what they had coming for them.
-
This didn't go the way I intended.
Yes, NC State AD shouldn't have complained publicly. But my point was in comparing their profile to SJU's the only thing SJU had going for them were their wins over us. NC State's computer number blew SJU's out of the water ssssoooo...
Wins over MU >>>>> Good computer numbers.
I think that shows the committee had a lot of respect for Marquette. That's nice.
-
I don't know if the numbers backed this up, but record against Q1 opponents seemed to be a gigantic factor in seeding in the NCAA Tournament. I'm guessing SJU, in part due to their wins over Marquette, had a better record against Q1 opponents.

The committee chairman, in his interview on CBS, mentioned Q1 wins several times. I'm not sure he ever mentioned the NET unless he was specifically asked. So I think you are right, wades.

Seems it is not easy to walk and chew gum at the same time.
We have two separate issues.
On the important issue, what goes on behind closed doors isn't worth squat.
We are not looking for a secret heart felt apology, we want respect.
Ethics, public trust, democracy demand transparency. Racketeers thrive in the dark.

NC State was 0-7 against the top 5 in the ACC. 7 of their conference wins were against the bottom 5. Combined with their 353 or 353 non-conference schedule they didn't deserve a bid. Their best wins were home against Auburn and a neutral site game against Penn State and their best ACC win was home against Syracuse while they lost at Wake Forest and at home to Georgia Tech.
SJU had wins over MU, Nova and Seton Hall (should have been two) along with a road win at Georgetown and 2 over Creighton and neutral site wins against VCU and Georgia Tech (who beat NC State). Their worst loss of the season was at home against DePaul when Ponds was out injured.
So no, it wasn't a "tribute" to MU anymore than Minnesota getting in was a "tribute" to Bucky.

I thought I was in the same situation, but I covered myself with tin foil and I fashioned some antennae out of old pipe cleaners, and now I am picking up the signals loud and clear.
