Title: KenPom's Big East predictions vs. reality
Post by: Marcus92 on February 22, 2019, 10:50:47 PM
Looking back to the beginning of the season, the Big East has been even weaker than expected. According to KenPom, every single Big East team has underperformed so far. Every team except for one, that is: Marquette.

Nova started the year ranked #5 nationally. Butler was picked third in the conference just behind Marquette at #30. Creighton was fourth at #33. All three have fallen roughly 20 spots each since then. Neither Butler nor Creighton have borne much resemblance to NCAA tournament teams.

One down season doesn't worry me. But I do hope the Big East becomes a leading contender for Comeback Conference of the Year in 2019-20.

Most BE teams are extremely young yet talented. Last year they were old.  BE wil be strong again.  Butler tho heading for doormat status.

Butler has done well recently and has solid support from fans and the administration...but their coaching turnover has been over the top. They're already on their third coach since Stevens left in '13. Virtually impossible for any program but a true blue blood to sustain success with that kind of turnover.
