Title: Top 100 players 2019 (TMW)

Sam and Markus on the list.  Grimes got some votes, but didn't make the top 100... apparently, he has been a beast in practice.

QG didn't want to play the game right, so now we're going to watch him lose every game. That's just how it works.

Maybe he just means every game Marquette fans watch? (AKA November 21)

Interesting list. As with all exercises like this there are a lot of nits I would pick here and there though I think its overall solid. I think Quentin Goodin and Kamar Baldwin are both too high. Sammysplash too low.

I counted 9 Big East players with Villanova, St. Johns and Marquette with 2; and Butler, Xavier and Georgetown with 1 each. This is a down year for the Big East?

One of the better lists I've seen, although a few question marks.

I liked the fact that it was just based on the college game, no draft stock involved.  I think there might be a tendency to look at a player like Happ, see that he likely doesn't have an NBA future, and lower him on a lot of lists, when he will likely be the best post player in the country.

I'm still not sure what people see in Kamar Baldwin that screams top 15 player.  He was a very clear Robin to Kelan Martin's Batman last year and in ranking last years players I don't think Martin would make top 15.

Also, as good as Nova was last year.  Paschall and Booth were the 5th and 6th option.  Automatically slotting them into these lists seems like it shouldn't be a sure thing.  I think both Cremo and Quinerly could be better offensive players next year, even if they aren't as good defensively.

It's not just about having quality players, it's about having depth and quality depth.  Nova has two players on the list, but also add one of the top grad transfers and a 5* freshman PG.

We have two players on the list, but we are also expecting contributions from a grad transfer, traditional transfer and 5* freshman (among other).

STJ has two, but I have seen zero indication that Heron will be eligible.  They will only go as far as Ponds can take them.

I've already stated why I think Baldwin is overrated, X lost a ton including their coach, and Gtown wasn't great even when they had Govan and Derrickson, I can't see them making a significant jump when they only have one.  Put it this way,  Myles Powell could very well be on this list, partly because he is a good player, and partly because I expect him to have an extremely high usage this year after losing 4 seniors, but I still think SH could challenge DePaul for last this year because of those 4 Seniors lost.

Wow ... I sure hope Markus plays like the 14th best player in the entire nation.

But I'm not sure how seriously I can take a list that leaves off the most efficient player in the world, Matt Heldt!

They have a very solid write-up on the squad as a whole: preseason ranked #26.

For an outlet that's not MU-related, this is about as good a piece on Marquette as you'll find.  Agree with everything they said.

Wow.  That is a very accurate write-up - seemed like it was written by an insider.  And it is well written (favorite phrase:  "5'10 meatball Andrew Rowsey").

Well, the author is from Wisconsin, which could explain the depth of his knowledge:

Jim Root: The 6th man of his high-school state championship Wisconsin basketball team, Jim is a large fan of hustle rebounds and the extra pass. He also works as a financial analyst for a printing and logistics company as a side job to make a few dollars.  Jim attended a Big-12 turned SEC school in college.

He starts off the article with a pretty bad take.  "Steve Wojciechowski finds himself in the unenviable position of sitting squarely on the hot seat."  Wojo is nowhere near the hot seat at the moment.

Yeah, but could he dunk? If not, he can't possibly be knowledgeable.

I agree with wades about the Wojo hot-seat reference, and the author made it again at the end of the article. He might be on a warm seat if our Warriors crap the bed this season, but he certainly isn't on the hot seat now.

Otherwise, it was a good look at the team. He didn't say anything about our defense that hasn't been said on Scoop 1000 times, though.

If MU misses the tournament, he is abso-frickin-lutely on the hot seat.

Agreed. But he's not on the hot seat now which is what the article claimed.
