Tortoise Club on State and Kinzie. Just apples (sorry, I forgot which variety), cheddar and gouda on multi-grain,but it was dipped in some sort of batter before it was grilled. And it came with a excellent cup of tomato soup.
Definitely a place to let your boss pick up the tab, though. Some of the lunch entrees were north of $30.

I presume this special only applies to the cheap swill on tap? Because if I can get drafts of Lakefront IPA for $2, I'm telling my wife to cancel our dinner reservations and put her "standing in line with the students" shoes on.

Last year I had a similar experience but the one time I made it early this year I waited in line for 30 min and barely made the tip. In fact they couldn't keep up with the hot dog demand and were selling brats for 2 bucks so there wasn't a riot :) Maybe they have more spots going now.

I remember the hot dog thing as well. I got lucky though since my girlfriend only drinks that high class beer that costs $12 I was able to get her to buy me 2 beers so I got 4 per run.

Well my boss brought me a greasy $3 breakfast taco from the shack down the street the other morning.
