All TV crews are set for Friday. I have them listed on the top.

Keep in mind for the Marquette game. It's the FS Wisconsin overflow channel, as the Bucks are at the Spurs.

My newspaper lists the game as being on FSN which is not very specific as to what Fox Sports Network it's on?

Ithink that stands for Fox Sports North,  not network

It is on Fox Sports North Plus, which is not the same as FSN. I think you have to have a sports pack or something to get the channel.

ETA - there is a replay on FSNorth at midnight.

Same thing. FSN is one company that breaks off to local RSN's (regional sports network) like FS Wisconsin, FS North, FS Florida for examples.

I think SLU might be a top 100 team this season. Not as good as VT, but not as easy of a game as you might think.

Ford has been doing a great job of getting talent there. I fully expect SLU to challenge for the A10 title this year (in an admittedly down A10).

Wow...'Nova is really fun to watch when they are on, and right now they are definitely on. Outscoring Tennessee 25-6 this half. Defense is swarming and suffocating, offensively they can score on the break or in the half-court set. This is why continuity is important. Watching 'Nova, I really hope Wojo is here 10-15 years just to see what it's like to have a coach that long.

Man...Angel Delgado is a ridiculous whiner. Every time the ref blows a whistle, he immediately starts crying, stamping his feet, gesticulating his arms like "why, why, why?!?" I'm not sure I've ever seen a less mature performance by a player regarding refereeing, and that includes any Badger I've ever watched.

Butler's offense is offensive. They take a lot of bad shots, and it's not just the Texas defense. Poor ball movement, worse off-the-ball movement. Doesn't look at all like the Butler Way so far.

I checked out the box score of that game... Looks like Kelan Martin had a rough game.

The entire offense involves 4 guys mostly standing on the perimeter barely moving, then either Martin or Baldwin trying to take their man one on one then running right into the help defender or jacking up a late in the shot clock three.

The guy I felt worst for was Tyler Wideman. He was busting his ass in the post and they never fed him. The only guy consistently working for position and he got 2 attempts all game.

I just saw WITI FOX 6 is not showing the Xavier/Arizona State game. I guess they feel the local news is more important. It will be on Antenna TV, 986 on Spectrum. Not sure if that channel is on other outlets. I'm sure it's on FOX Sports Go.

Villanova about to win Atlantis. Up 12 on UNI with under 2 to play. That will make 5 straight November tournament wins and 17 consecutive games. They are the model of consistency.

Just tuned into Butler game a few minutes ago - just in time to hear Bilas say that he thinks the Big East is better than it's ever been. He also mentioned 3 teams by name: Nova, X and us. "I was very impressed with Marquette, and they're gonna get even better in a few weeks when a transfer from SMU named Harry Froling joins them. He'll be their best big man."

Now, I guess Bilas is talking about the BE's depth, with 70% of our teams making the Dance last year. But to say that today's BE is better than the one that captured the entire nation's imagination 30-35 years ago, or even the one of a few years ago that sent 11 of 16 schools to the tournament ... seems like a reach to me.

Nice to get more MU love from him, though!

As bad as Georgetown likely really is, their non-con schedule will be a net gain for the league. If they go 11-0 or 10-1 in non-con, that's a nice boost to the record for all of us. Sure, the opponent's opponents criteria will suffer, but that's fairly minimal compared to the direct record comparison.

In past years, Richmond has been a good basketball school. I think there even were a few folks here who floated them as a possible BE member if we expand; I wouldn't want 'em, but it's not as if they've been a horrible program. IIRC, many years ago they upset Syracuse in one of the biggest NCAA tourney upsets ever.

Not saying they're still good - obviously not given their resume. But a road win against Richmond - or any win at all, really - is good.

It would be nice if St. John's, Butler and DePaul all win today. But I won't celebrate if they go 3-0 or cry if they go 0-3. I have enough trouble with my own team's highs and lows!

Yep. I’m going for Georgetown and Depaul to win a total of 4 BE games or less. Best chance at 7+ bids. But any win for those two in the non con is important.

Yes! When Dickey is the better half of your duo, your in trouble.
It seemed as though it was his first time watching a basketball game.
“There’s a foul on Heldt”.....wrong.
“Out of bounds off Hauser”......nope.
“Timeout Marquette”.....no one called timeout.
Just brutal.

13-0 run over 6 mins. That's following an 8-0 Rutgers run before that.

They literally get the ball and dribble or throw it away every play.

Not sure Willard has drawn up 1 play that works.

They're either chucking deep contested 3's or turning it over forcing the ball into the post. I agree, not sure they've actually ran a play.

Once Hoyas lost Derrickson, went downhill.  They are a two man team with him and Govan, with inside offense and defense.  No outside shooting whatsoever, they went like 2 for 19 from three.  Other BE teams probably take notes and adjust, but least Cuse didn't blow them out.  Good effort.

Worse, Xavier is getting smoked at home in a buy game to East Tennessee State. DePaul currently leading Northwestern to save some dignity, but can that last?

The attendence at the Wintrust Arena for the DePaul Northwestern game was 7,001. Shows how much of an uphill climb Depaul has to fill that place.  On the other hand, if they can put together a reasonably competitive team , they may generate some additional fan interest that may translate into greater attendance. Will be interesting to see how much they draw for the MU game.

Also, Georgia easily beat Georgia Tech today.

Bulldogs are 8-2, with only a neutral-site loss to San Diego State and a road loss to UMass. They had a nice neutral win over a ranked St. Mary's team as well as a good road win against us.

They aren't titans of the hardwood, but they're not "horrible" like some Scoopers claimed. Several highly ranked teams all across the country suffered far more horrible defeats than our loss to Georgia.

They lost Starting F Emmitt Holt for the year before the season even started. Huge loss.

They played without backup PG Maliek White last night, not a huge loss.

Starting PG Kyron Cartwright and Starting SF Alpha Diallo have been dealing with injuries. According to the box score they both played last night but only 6 and 13 minutes respectively. Didn't watch the game so I'm not sure if they were playing hurt, were playing and got reinjured, or if it's a box score error.

I really don't believe in Butler. They look like the 8th place team to me if Providence was healthy.

Providence will depend on whether or not they get healthy. I think when healthy they are the 4th best team in the conference (even without Holt). With these nagging injuries I think they could finish 8th.

St. John's I'm starting to believe in but am still not there yet.

The surprise team to me has been Creighton. I really didn't think they would be that good this year but they've looked like a top 25 team so far. That Krampelj kid really stepped up this year. They got a pair of pretty good frosh too. Don't know that I've ever seen a team that has 7 players averaging over 2 assists a game, very interesting style of play.

I think we can pull out 5th in this league. Big East will be a bloodbath as usual.

Yeah. 5th in the league and a NCAA berth looks increasingly attainable. If things break right I could see 11-7. Still going to guess 10-8.

Northern Iowa is decent this year.  Plus a home game.  I hope Xavier don't play a poor "round the holidays" game then get pissed and kick our arse next week.

I was thinking the same thing.  Didn't Northern Iowa play their "charity scrimmage" at the Kohl Hole this year and get completely spanked?  Or was that someone else?

Either way, they've been solid this year when games have actually counted.  Tough game.  You don't see many high majors go on the road to play a really solid mid-major.

I think it's unlikely. They would likely have to go 12-6 in league play. I'm not sure the Johnnies are that good, especially as their only two real challenges, Missouri and Arizona State, resulted in pretty clear losses.

Maybe they beat Duke or make a BET run, but I can't see it. More likely in the 40-50 range.

Good! I think it's time for X to rest a little for 40 minutes on Wednesday night!

Seriously, they have a very nice team (again). That's a good win at N. Iowa. Very easy place to lose, especially the last game before conference play when you might be looking ahead a little.

Seton Hall and GT did their jobs and beat cupcakes today.

GT has played exactly one team that's borderline decent (Syracuse) and that's their one loss. But I understand why they scheduled like that.

Yep. Novelty factor, top 15 opponent, and an improving team barely got them above 10k. Lose for long enough and that happens.

53-42 Creighton at the half. Maybe the Big East is just going to play a lot of high scoring games this season. Lots of good offensive teams.

Seton Hall just ripped off 18 points in 5 minutes to get back into 63-60 Creighton.

First team to 85 wins!

They are all currently aired on Fox Sports Wisconsin (and likely multiple other region FSN channels).  Its possible that FS1 or FS2 will pick up before then, but maybe not.

If you live outside of Wisconsin, but have directv, you can add the sportspack for like $10 per month, and will be able to watch the game.  Or if you don't mind spending 20 or so minutes on the phone, keep asking for the customer retention division and they'll give it to you for free.

FYI, the old coach (who complained about the TV deal), is playing the number 8 team in the country, his in state rival, and is not on national television.

Those four FSN games for Marquette will not go to FS1. FS2, I don't think will be the case as well.

Buzz will have to wait until 2019-20 for the new ESPN ACC Network, we will end up paying for.

Truly comical.  Honestly, the BE probably has the best TV deal of any league (in terms of availability)....maybe by a long shot.  Every single game is televised.

Literally every single Marquette game has been televised since November 22, 2014 (the god awful loss to Omaha - the last game I missed).

To be picky on this and to prove your point even more. Omaha at MU was an FS2 game. It got bump off to just Fox Sports Go, as the Texas Tech/OU football game on FS1 was in a weather delay and the start of the Cal/Stanford game started on FS2.

Disagree strongly.  Minnesota is my 2nd (distant 2nd) team.  I live in Minneapolis.  A handful of non-con Gopher games were not televised in their own home town (or anywhere for that matter), on any channel of any sort.  I know this is the case for multiple other B10 teams.

The B10 TV deal, in terms of actually being able to watch your teams games, is trash.

Big Ten basketball deal is pretty sweet, nevermind the cost. CBS, FOX, ESPN family, FS1 and BTN. The thing that blows is many non-conference games are on BTN Plus. A streaming thing you need to pay for.

Marquette at Butler (-4.5), 5:30PM
TV: FS1-Steve Physioc & Nick Bahe

Providence (-1.5) at DePaul, 7:45PM
TV: FS1-Joe Davis & Len Elmore

During the Providence at DePaul men?s basketball game Friday, head coaches wear live microphones, giving viewers the chance to hear directly from the sidelines, huddles and locker rooms from tip-off through the final whistle and everything in between. Both matchups are presented commercial-free, allowing FOX Sports cameras and microphones to capture moments not normally available to a television audience.

X came back to beat St. John's. I tend to think X is a little overrated based on what we've seen so far this season, but still winning when not playing particularly well is a sign of a mentally tough team that's able to overcome adversity.

Enjoyed watching the last 5 minutes of X-SH.

Macura was quite sensational. Made back-to-back plays that any coach will kill to have one of his players make.

We’re both going to win conference and MU social media will beat the narrative to death of first Big East team to do so since UConn.   I promise you will hear that 77 million times.

Jalen Brunson scored 23 points for Villanova over UConn 81-61.
Donte DiVincenzo added 17 points for the Wildcats (18-1), who complete their non-conference schedule at 13-0.
Jalen Adams scored 19 for UConn (10-9), which has now lost five games this season by at least 20 points.
Villanova scored 18 of the final 20 points before intermission and the rout was on.
Nova could have won that game by 40 if they felt like it.  How far UConn has fallen.  Two thirds of the original traditional Big East teams (Boston College, Syracuse, Pitt, UConn, Georgetown, St. Johns) are worse or much worse versions of their former selves since either leaving or the breakup of the original Big East.  Only Villanova, Seton Hall and Providence are what they were or are better.  It is gratifying that in general those who stayed have fared better relative to their standard than those that left.

If BC, Pitt and Syracuse had it over again, they'd make the exact same choice.  Moving to a P5 conference if you have a football team is an absolute no-brainer.  If you have football, that has to be the sport on which you base these decisions.  It's too high cost with too much potential revenue.

But UConn is truly between a rock and a hard place.  The AAC is actually a respectable basketball conference, especially with the addition of Wichita.  But it is a very expensive football conference because the revenues are so bad.  And they're not getting a P5 invite anytime soon.

I agree and I'm sure they would.  But I'm also pretty sure their fans were enjoying themselves a lot more before they moved to the ACC.

Interesting. Burning a redshirt for only 10 regular season games. Not sure its worth it. Even with Krampelj I thought Elite 8 was their ceiling. Without him they seem more like a first round exit. Not sure Epperson pushes them past that.

It will be interesting to see how it impacts their season, and perhaps more saliently if they are looking back with regret in 4 years similar to how some MU fans felt when Junior Cadougan exhausted his eligibility.

EDIT: Did a little research and looks like SJU just played X a few weeks ago and took them down to the wire only losing by 6 in Cincy; makes a little more sense now; SJU may have favorable match-ups that they exploited in the first meeting - not to mention they're still quite familiar with X.

The #6 team in the nation was only a 4.5-point favorite over a winless BE team? Really ... or am I just missing the faux teal?

Folks who think we're just gonna walk onto the St. John's court and automatically win are high.

Games like that (and GT and DePaul) are why it would be extra nice to win these next 2 home games. Need some margin for error. I wouldn't be stunned if we went 3-1 or even 2-2 in those "easy" games. I think (hope!) we'll go 4-0, but I wouldn't be stunned if we don't.

Any win is a good win.

Out of curiosity, when was the last time Marquette stepped out of conference in the middle of the conf season?
Seems like a lot of the other BE teams have done so during their bye weeks in recent years, but not MU.

Nah, Providence needs a win. I'm looking for the most amount of teams in the BE to the dance!

That was my feeling until recently.  I think the BE probably only gets 6 seeds.  7 is possible still, but fairly unlikely at this point.

We need the 6 seed bad.  PC finishing 8-10 or Seton Hall and us tying in the standings (we'd win the tie breaker) is my top rooting priority at this point.  Also SJU getting the 9 seed and not the 10 in case we do end up with the 7 seed.

Why wouldn't we pass them on the bubble? We've beat them twice, and if we end up with equal records in conference, I think we'd be above them, no?

Seth Greenberg, on Pardon the Interruption

Rob Stone on FOX just threw some shade on Greenberg while talking to Chris Mack...

"This will not be an off-Broadway matchup at 4:30 on FOX."

People haven't talked about Blueitt for NPOY because it's been Trae Young's award to lose, and Jalen Brunson seems to be the only one that could take it from him, but Blueitt does seem like a good bet for First Team All-American. If that's underrated, I don't know what you have to do to get respect.

Seton Hall vs Providence (6:30 p.m. ET on FS1)
Opening Line: Providence -1.5
Offensive Efficiency: Seton Hall #60, Providence #159
Defensive Efficiency: Seton Hall #135, Providence #127
Rebound Rate: Seton Hall #49, Providence #157
Percent of Shots are 3s: Seton Hall #286, Providence #287
Free-Throw Shooting Percentage: Seton Hall #295, Providence #223
Pace: Seton Hall #87, Providence #124

Neither team is truly that good when you look at the raw stats, but both are solid NCAA Tournament teams. Seton Hall have been blown out of a number of games, which has hurt its efficiency numbers. Meanwhile, Providence is 11-3 in games decided by 10 points or fewer.

The Friars upped their play when the Big East schedule started, going 7-4 in its last 11 games, including home wins over Villanova, Xavier, Creighton and Butler. Providence has not done well in the favorite role for bettors, going just 3-9 in such spots this season.

Seton Hall has been scuffling since knocking off Providence the first time these two met, going 1-4. The Pirates allowed 57 points in that game, and have allowed 77 points or more in each game since. Neither team is strong on the defensive end, but the Pirates are a better rebounding team.

These teams are similar in most aspects of the game, with Seton Hall's offensive efficiency and rebound rate being its small advantages while Providence is a touch better at the free-throw line.

This will come down to whether Providence's backcourt advantage is greater or less than Seton Hall's edge with its forwards. Seton Hall should dominate the paint while Providence will be going with more of a small-ball lineup. The question is, can the Friars hit enough 3s to offset the disadvantage on the glass?

Yep. I'm pretty surprised, gotta admit.

On another note ...

I mostly enjoyed the work of Kutcher and Bahe today. Kutcher said a few too many times that Wojo said it was a must-win game, and I'm sure each said something silly one or two other times, but otherwise I thought they were solid.

Sooooo...PC CU game, they just spent a bunch of time reviewing an out of bounds call, but everyone seemed to miss that the ball bounced in bounds, and a CU player jumped out of bounds and touched the ball before bouncing out of bounds..   CU was given the ball.  Did I miss something here, refs and announcers can't all be that dumb right?

Crazy sequence

Xavier up 2. Providence misses. Xavier rebounds with about 25 seconds left. Macura got DECKED while making a pass. No call. Xavier goes to the rim and misses. Cartwright gets fouled going 1 on 3. Refs (correctly) call it on the floor. Cartwright nails both. Macura gets a shot blocked to end regulation.
