Title: What movie prop would you own?
Post by: warriorchick on August 20, 2017, 08:46:27 AM
Saw this topic online.  It has prompted some interesting discussions among my group, so I thought it would be fun to post here:

If you could own any movie prop in the history of cinema, what would it be?  For purposes of this discussion buildings (such as Ironman's house) or vehicles (the Back to the Future DeLorean) are not included.

And just because I know the conversation will devolve into this otherwise, your choice should be based on how cool you think it is, not because it is monetarily valuable.

I would choose the animatronic gopher from "Caddyshack".  Glow picks the amp from "Spinal Tap" that goes to Eleven.

What's your pick?

Great question...

It has to be from a movie that I really love.  A couple that are listed above would be good (the Ark and the amp).

So, I started thinking of some of my favorite movies, and a lot of them don't have too many key props.

So...some I'm considering

Kaffee's "thinking bat" in A Few Good Men (my current leader)
The flight log in A Few Good Men
The coconut shells from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Holy Hand Grenade from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The ET puppet (might not be a considered a "prop"...if it is, it might be my top pick)
The earring in The Breakfast Club
Rocky's gloves
The Idol at the very beginning of Raiders

Just got back from my annual baseball trip (Dodgers and Padres) and while in LA took the Paramount Studios tour where they had the prop robot of The Terminator and we got to sit on the bench from Forrest Gump, which was very cool.

My first thought was Khartoum's head but I don't like the idea of a horse's head on my wall.  I think it would be Indiana Jones' whip (and fedora).

That's why I clarified a conventional engine.  Even if it existed, I don't give a f#@% about hyperdrive (not to mention how far $5 in gas would get you these days)... I want to drive that beast on unleaded gas to Brewer games for tailgating and take it on the road from MU away games.

And then using another prop to go back in time, I circumvent the “Void after 120 days” stamp on the check in order to put 48 $50 WIN tickets on #3 in the 7th Race....I think he’s called Fleet Dreams....Trotter gave him to me!

Oh wait, Chick won’t allow profits off props...so instead I just print 100,000 business cards for “Jennifer Tilly——Football Sales”

The zucchini from Animal House and then I would donate it to one of my pals here on Scoop.

So I read through this thread again, and since the "no vehicle" rule has been shamelessly ignored, I would like the Urban Assault Vehicle from "Stripes", even though it was the worst part of that movie.

I will also take Bill Murray's letter jacket from the first part.

If we're going for a Stripes prop, I'd take the "Win a Dream Date with Ox" issue of Tiger Beat.

In that case, I’ll take Stanley Spadowski’s mop.

Tommy Boy's Marquette Rugby Jacket...

Kind of a dual purpose memorabilia.

This is one of the best Scoop threads in a long time.  Kudos to all.  So many good selections.

Sorry to be late to the party, so, from the dregs, I select Del's shower curtain rings from Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Del's sink-washed underwear would be a close second, and Del and Neal's post-fire rental car would be my selection in the automobile category).

I only discovered that movie a couple years ago. Now I watch it every Thanksgiving. So good.
